Hi, I never got them on here. I read them on your page, all three parts and other than some editing, which it looked like you already have someone doing? - I liked them.

WTF (pardon my french)? I'm trying to share my FWE post with the group... and it's not working!!! Has anyone else had this problem?

Seriously, I've done it before and it's worked. But today, it's not working! I click "share with group" at the top right corner. It goes to the place where you choose what you're going to share. I click "share a post". Then, at the top, it changes from "Groups" to "Explore", and even though it says it's being shared with the group, it doesn't show up in the posts on the group home. Help!

I am just looking for ideas, maybe people to meet and talk to about writing. I've never had anything published, because I'm afraid to and not good about handling criticism. I tend to lean towards science fiction and fantasy. I also write poetry, but have been too chicken to have it published either. I live outside the Albany, NY area, and would like to try and find others near me.

I'm sure there are writer's organizations near you Alyssa. Gather is a terrific virtual writing group, but you may find more assistance and support with the in-person variety. Good luck and we look forward to seeing how you "test the waters" here on Gather Writing Essential!

Hi Alyssa, I completely agree with S Tabber, he is the Tuesday Editor, I'm Mondays, we both welcome new people and if you don't want critique' on Monday, you won't get it. Encouragement is what you will get - if you want critique', ask and you will get it. Have fun and you'll continue to get better.

wow, Marilyn you are an editor here? so cool ! How was my writing in the Ghost stories ? I do need a critic because it has been many years and not fairing to well in the English department .

What I would find helpful in this group is a way to find the daily prompts from the editors without going through the dozens of posts. There are times when I want to refresh my memory on a specific prompt from a specific editor for a given day of the week, but find it frustrating to locate it. If there is a way to do that already, I'd be grateful to hear it.

Hi suzie and brian, I'm lazy and that's a ME TOO, they ought to all be featured, at least for the week, but there are member features too, sooooo, lots of posts, but click on the member editor's links directly and their last post or two-three back, should be the Writing Essential. That's the only way I can find them easily. Marilyn

I totally agree, it would be soooo much easier to find them if they were featured on the homepage for that week or something similar :)

I've not been addiing WWE to my postings, as I'd thought the posts were to be targeted to the daily writing prompts. Now that I'm here viewing features and posts, I see that maybe I thought wrong.

Hi, Ruth. Any submission that meets the group guidelines as defined on this page (under the group owner's name), is welcome. The writing prompts are provided for those who wish to participate, and may be featured on that day.

Greetings all! I thought I'd post my acceptance policy here and when I have a chance, will create a post on this topic. <b>I accept articles tagged with "wwe". I want and expect as a professional courtesy the other member/editors to either accept those article thus tagged or leave them for me to accept. I check the WE queue daily.

Hello everyone, Id like to share with the ladies of this writing group my Womens Wellbeing Magazine online. It is full of articles from all walks of life to empower and inspire women the world over. We are always looking for writers or if you are more comfortable just soaking up the wonderful words we are happy with that. So, if you would like a challenge or have your work published to share and inspire others please visit www.brandlady.com or contact myself at clare@brandlady.com and I can direct you of what to do to contribute. We hope some of you would like to share your wonderful work and look forward to hearing from some of you. Thankyou. Kindest regards, Clare Hudd

Hi, this is to all member editors who have emailed me recently -- please, PLEASE don't include me in mass emails. PLEASE. I don't want to block the group, but I really strongly dislike mass mails, and hope not to be included in them in the future -- at least not on a two-or-three-times-a-week basis. Thanks in advance for your consideration.

I'll second that. If I want to see what is going on with a group, I'll go there. I don't need or want these emails either.

Melissa, Join the group that you want to share your articles, after reading the different criteria, and determining which day (assuming you want "Writing Essentials") fits your needs the best. And then, to actually share your writing, go to your "My Gather" page, scroll down a little until you see your avatar (that little picture of you next to your posts), and underneath it, you have four choices of what to do. Can't remember the other three choices, but the first one is "Share." Click "Share," and then, if you still feel lost with the choices given there (for an article/post you want to click the first one), click the links for each that teaches you how to do it all. Now, truthfully, unless you have your articles tagged for any particular exercise, so your particular day's writers can find it, you might have problems getting critiqued at first, but, it won't take long for readers to find you eventually, and hopefully some writers. Then you really want to consider how you want to be critiqued, because most won't critique at all, unless you really add how you want it behind your name, (nicely, specifically, both barrels, etc. lol), but all that stuff is one of those things everyone learns the hard way (or easy way) depending on the group and the people showing up to see your article. And, since few actually come down to this part of this page often, you'll probably want to ask questions, when you have them, to the specific group you want to participate in, in the future. Good luck, and hope to see you around.

There are still problems today with some accepted posts not appearing in the list. I wrote to MaryAnne Flynn again this morning. If you submitted a writing related post that does not appear, please resubmit and I'll try again to accept it. I apologize for the inconvenience.

There have been publishing problems in the group today; accepted posts disappearing. I wrote to MaryAnne Flynn about the problem but haven't heard back yet. If anyone submitted a writing related post that didn't show up here, please submit it again.

Welcome Gather writers to the Writing Essential! The Writing Essential was created as a home for Gather writers of all levels, from beginners to advanced writers, to congregate and publish their work and receive constructive criticism, as well as to share their experiences and ask questions about the craft of writing. This Essential will host a dynamic and ever changing array of content and is unique from any other Essential on the site. Why? Because it is run by Gather members!
Each day, a different Gather member Writing Essentials Editor will moderate the group and feature work based on quality of writing and possibly a theme that the Editor has chosen. Our Member Editors come from diverse writing backgrounds, so one day you may find poetry as the feature theme. Another day, it might be personal memoirs. And the next day, it might be a mix of the best writing across all genres. The Writing Essential is a place for you to find familiar faces and discover new talent and friends with the same passion. We encourage you to publish your works of fiction (poetry, prose, plays, screenplays) and nonfiction (memoirs, interviews with other writers and published authors, and questions about the craft of writing and the pursuit of publishing). We look forward to reading your work and hearing about your experiences as a writer. Group Links
