Prompt: I want you to write us a golfing cowboy poem.
Golf Hazards on The Range -Part 3
(Them golfing cowboys and those dang cows...)
By Heather L Campbell
October 11, 2013
Rumors about those dang cows
They said were out on the range
Just wild imaginations?
Or was something really strange...
Some ventured hereto seek out
And find that same piece of ground..
The missing bags of golf clubs
They couldn't find any around
Oh the lookers that came to see
They all heard “The odd cow tale”
Reporters came from “The Post”*
With “a shovel and a pail”...
Some headlines just like this one
“Space Alien Cow Disguise”
Said they were cows from the skies
The tourists flocked to our town
That ranch sold at a big price
The cowboys just disappeared
Many who sold didn't think twice
Dang those tourists every one
Dang those cows that went astray
Dang the mess the cowboys made
Dang what happened on that day
“Gully Golf course” opened up
Sherwood sold the bar and "ride"
Then the new owners put a
Fancy “patio” outside
In camemore traffic lights
It was too much rural sprawl
No one liked the new places
Not like our old town at all
We caved in, sold and moved out
Thought might as well see some sights
Drove out to see "Headline" shows
Las Vegas strip with the lights
Ah,“The Wicked Spoon Buffet”
T'was a pricey place to eat
It was there we learned the truth
From a bartender called Pete
He told us of some cowboys
Said they were from our same town
One bragged about a new big truck
They bought "Champagne" all around
Told this Pete they had all been
Made rich by some city guy
Easiest money they made
All it took was one big lie...
