Challenge: create a character. My character arose from my writing course for children. As I proposed the unofficial SatWE challenge, I guess it behooves me to submit a response. Here it is.
Darien Dunn was a barrel of fun,
with a face that was dirty and hairy.
He would tweak at your nose and tickle your toes,
then growl ferociously scary.
With polka-dot socks and splendiferous smocks,
Master Dunn really was quite a sight.
And his long orange hair and faraway stare
were certain to give you a fright.
But at the end of the day, he just wanted to play
and he knew how to get you to giggle.
And if you were done with his barrel of fun
he would stand on his head and would wiggle,
his long skinny toes in his polka-dot hose
and wave his legs in the air,
then jump up again with an air of disdain,
and pretend you were no longer there.
Yes, Darien Dunn was a barrel of fun,
he was lanky and easy to bend,
and if his barrel of fun was too much for some,
in truth he just wanted a friend.
