Pam asked for a story that hopped back and forth in time, and had confusion involved.
Sharle left her apartment and headed for the stairs down to Dragon's Inn's dining room. To her surprise, neither stairs or elevator were there.
The dining room was on the same level as her third floor apartment?
Surprised, she headed into the dining room, to find nothing but rough hewn wooden plank tables, and logs with the tops flattened for benches instead of the usual round tables and chairs.
Gabe's bar was absent, and the only kitchen was the huge fireplace. Instead of Con or Sarexy doing the cooking, there was a portly man she did not know in a hide apron, and coarse homespun clothing.
Three old time drudges were working the tables. She didn't recognize any of them.
The door to Garl's office had vanished. He was just sitting at the end of the long table farthest from her.
She went to join him. As she was crossing the room, everything blurred.
When it came back into focus, the inn was gone completely. She stood among trees. She could hear wolves howling somewhere.
Puzzled, she turned to see if the inn was behind her. It wasn't. Instead, she faced a bear with two cubs.
"Oh great, you leave me alone, and I'll leave you alone. Now go about your own business lady!" She remembered to be noisy.
The bear growled. "I said to go away!" Sharle spoke louder.
To her relief, the bear shambled off.
Turning, she felt dizzy, for the stairs to the dining room were now before her. She went down them into the dining room.
Gabe and bar were back in place, the office door was where it belonged, and the round table and chair setup was back.
She went over and sank down beside Garl at the corner table. Seesee brought her a menu and her coffee as she sat.
She told Garl her story. He shook his head. "Wondered why you turned and went outdoors."
She shrugged. "No idea. It was like time slipped backwards."
