When Gather appeared to be making a try at survival, one of my first SatWE posts was to ask you to be Len for a day and post a SatWE challenge. The responses weren’t overwhelming, but Gather was still having some problems and I was happy to get anything. One of them, The New Gather (Sat GWE) by jay o popped up today as this week’s SatWE challenge.

Well, the carnage continues...BUT...
Sports and news and UFO tales of the like and authorship we have seen in the past have reared their blowholes, though remaining submerged, you can see them and their pretty ads and format if you link from Connie Cs latest post. There's a judicious touch of irony there.
It will be as it was a year ago then, maybe faster, less spam, blah blah. The news page is essential to their reckoning. OK.
Not being here before it existed, I never had good old days to miss. But I read grumbles of the halcyon days, when points were POINTS and it was Artist First. I'll accept it was better for the dedicated membership then.
So what I'm asking is what was different, better. And what could be transplanted to this format instead of discarded. Example: A Front piece section that has three member posts instead of 3 weeks-old business "News" or at least in addition to...a spotlight, on the most read, most recced, Pick of the day, the week, up front. The Group page on one large scroll instead of 100 pages. A wish list.
Ha! Working would be nice, you say. Sure. But what else?
This Week’s Challenge:
You are Igor, and Doctor Gatherstein has given you an option to add, keep, return or DESTROY one Gather feature in return for your years of contribution, and affection for that strange hump on your back. What is it? Why is it? And how will it make the place splendiferous? In prose or poetry.
[Pick one of the Gather features you like/dislike and discuss why it should be continued or eliminated.]
Watch Out For:
[Whatever you write, make sure it has to do with some Gather feature.]
Until Gather progresses a bit further, I’m not going to separate challenges into this week’s and previous weeks’ responses. You’re all getting lumped together.
