Could you imagine a Beetle this big actually in your house??
(From the Information Board)
The future looks bright for the voracious Mountain Pine Beetle and bleak for the Lodgepole Pine. In the past, long periods of extreme cold (below -40 degrees C) controlled the beetles range. But warming winters have allowed beetles to spread, decimating forests hundreds of kilometers beyond their old range. Climate models show that Mountain Pine Beetles will eventually occupy the full range of Lodgepole Pine and perhaps spread into Jack Pine territory in Canda's boreal forests. (2005)
