the melting
the snows fell heavy in the night
a pristine quilt of white
entombing all, tenaciously
cars, roofs, lanes, ways
lawns once groomed on kinder days
on every branch of every tree
there, began the life of me
soon cleared the clouds of growling gray
sky blue, refracted sunlight
touched my face
a crystal once, I, like the rest
began my metamorphosis
sun-kissed, changed kinetically
became the droplet borne to be
once lying, clinging, stoically
began to free-flow, fluidly
electrons whirled, excitedly
in sunshine’s warm caress
now naught can dim my glimmering
I run this twig without a care
to furthest outreach, trickle there
observe my world a different way
my comprehension crystal clear
my view of all reflected here
topsy-turvy – upside down
within the very heart of me
with love so strong beyond all whim
both thrilling, fearing what awaits
a deeper, full, enlightened me
enlarged beyond my waning grasp
on all I know…
emboldened by epiphany
I, white-knuckled grip renounce
drop through the air, exultantly
her world and warmth envelop me
caressing my life tenderly
no care for what below me waits
this moment, our
eternity

That heroic and grateful droplet will now stand out in my memory, as one of the most beautiful personifications in poetry. Extremely well done!
