Magic Seashells.
Yesterday I read an article on my Yahoo news page about the noise you hear when listening to a seashell. We all know that it’s the roar of the wind and waves from the ocean that we are hearing. It’s magic, but someone somewhere always has to demystify this magic.
The article said that the noise is actually ambient noise from around us. Science knows that when we hold the seashell to our ear it captures this noise. It seems that different shell sizes create different frequencies therefore creating slightly different swooshing sounds. The article went on to say that we don’t even need the seashell to hear this noise. We can create the same ocean sound by using an empty cup or even by cupping your hand over you ear. Go ahead and try it. I did. I took one of my finest china cups off of its hook and placed it over my ear as instructed and there it was – the ocean. Somehow it just wasn't the same. The magic was gone.
I think I’ll reserve my ocean dreaming to placing my beautiful conch shell close to my ear while I close my eyes and let it take me to places far away. The magic sound of the waves from the ocean rolling gently onto the shore warms me on cold winter nights as I dig for clams in the moonlight. That’s magic.

Don't let anyone take away the magic! After all, THEY, (whoever they are) don't know everything...
I could just picture myself at the Ocean and listen to a Seashell to hear the 'magic' of the wind and Ocean Waves!~
Wonderful Post!~ :)
BTW, how are your allergies today?
My allergies seem to be gone, but it took three days. I'm not too sure if it ran it's course or the Claritin did it's job. I looked for a Neti pot in Wal Mart yesterday and they don't have them. I asked a young lady stocking shelves in the pharmacy area where I might them and she looked at me as if I had just grown three heads ... LOL ... I knew then that Wal Mart didn't carry them or she would have known. LOL I was in a rush and didn't get a chance to stop at Walgreen's but I intend to do just that. Thank you for asking after me and thank you for the advice and also thank you for the editing even though I know that's not what you intended. LOL!
Oh, the editors are waiting anxiously for you to submit your shorties!
Well, Idk what those scientists are talking about~I just tried a mug, a glass, a plastic measuring cup, NADA! Living by the ocean a good part of my life, I'm still a believer of the "magical" sound that comes from seashells, & I'm not about to let some scientist (probably a G/W enthusiast) ruin the magic, uh-uh!
Glad to hear you are feeling better now.
Love all of your drawings, and this one is no exception to the rule!
