Seeking orientation is my fool's errand
Christopher set my compass long ago
Deep and firm under labored chest
Always pointing up to what is best
As I go willy and nilly about
Too often ignoring its wiser shouts
This way, this way, or that way; it says
And oft times I turn
In some nick of time
Muttering appreciative blessings
To that dear old saint
Whose guidelines up the mountain
Saved me many stitches over time
When I've listened
