“…nor till the poets among us can be 'literalists
of the imagination'—above insolence and triviality
and can present for inspection, 'imaginary gardens with real toads in them',”
from “Poetry” by Marianne Moore (1887-1972)
O, ye readers of the written and rhyming word that would
That you disdain poems that cannot be understood
Reading with a literal mind and shun the unreal ,say
(until) the poets among us can be 'literalists…
You want something genuine; “ hands that grasp”
The metaphysical or surreal can be a threatening asp
Like the critic scratching with foot like a dog, being
of the imagination'—above insolence and triviality
Can poets demand a certain rawness in their writing?
Can we bring out true feelings into print; calm or biting
And yet use muses, imagination, even surrealism
and can present for inspection, 'imaginary gardens with real toads in them',”

I think what's important is how you maintained consistency, Richard, in the way you decided to shape the poem.
Cobblestones are thus aligned

That leads us to this mystic toad...
In the copernican spirals of its eyes, we see
The corridors of a poetic infinity...
You are a marvelous poet, Richard.

A dialectician is a philosopher who views the world in terms of complementary opposites and the interactions thereof. In popular usage, the central feature of dialectic is the concept of "thesis, antithesis, synthesis" -

poetry is art and viewers and readers receive different feelings from each offering depending on their perspective, education, environment, left or right brain thinking, etc but yes, a certain rhythm and or imagery inspires emotion and feeling. to me surreal poetry is like looking at an abstract painting....it surpasses the rational brain, which to some is garbage or scary or insane.
