I met him in the dark as I sped along on one of my predawn rides.
At first he was just a smell, an odor of death so bad I’d hold my breath as I passed by his overgrown lot.  I couldn’t help wondering what creature had passed away in the tangle of vine and shrub and after a few days I had to explore and find out.
It was definitely an animal but by the time I found it was in such a state of advanced decomposition I couldn’t tell what kind.  The mystery was solved and the sad discovery inspired Mr. Bonejangles and his twisted tale.  This guy can literally annoy you to death.
I was so enamored with this creature I let him have the title role on this latest book called Mr. Bonejangles & Other Tales of Dark Karma.  For me, he truly is one of those creations that turn out so different from what I originally envisioned.  A small part of me worries that perhaps I didn’t create him at all.  As he would say, he just came in to my head to ‘sit a spell.’
The rest of the tales include The Injustice League, Loving Dead Girl (Amy Eye inspired that title), Karmic Circle (the complete story), When I Committed Suicide and Bad Trip. There’s also a little bonus at the end for fans of End of Mae called What Happened To Bea which is part of the original book that I cut out.
The final story is for my daughter Kyra and is a patriotic, upbeat (I hope) story.  She can’t read anything dark without having nightmares so that means she can’t read much of my work at all.  The last story still has death and destruction in there but it was for a noble cause which makes it more palatable.  That’s what I hope anyways.
From here Amy works her magic, I go back and make changes, design a cover and then she formats it all and makes it pretty.  I expect it should be ready sometime around the beginning of February.  Loving Dead Girl will make such a sweet Valentine’s story ;p
So now you know where I’ve been, writing like mad but it’s not over yet.  Now it’s time to finish End of Joon.
