CRYSTAL FROM ABOVE ~ SunWE ~ FREE VERSE

                                                    Crystal From Above

 

 

                                  Ice coats everything creating crystal splendor

                                      Harvested fields with ridges high and low

                                        Resemble Sheets  of corrugated steel

                                          Smooth pastures like pains of glass

                                                 Cut into irregular shapes

                                       Ice covered roads become silver ribbons

                                               Crisscrossing the countryside

                                       Electric wires suspended from tilting poles

                                   Appear as gossamer strands of a spider’s web

                                            Sunlight glistens on high branches

                                                Giving illusion of chandeliers

                                                Suspended on invisible cords

                                            Giant icicles hang from roof’s edge

                                              Like polished swords on display

                                               Fly over storm ravaged lands

                                                And view crystal from above

What wonderful poem. It brought back memories to me. I think the best time to visit Niagara Falls is in the winter. The ice on the trees, bushes and even railings from the freezing mist give the Falls a fairy tale like quality.
