WWE, Gather Writing Essentials, 1/9/13, Greek Child, Willie, Part Two

Willie, Part Two.

Willie, the daughter of Poseidon, god of the sea, and Wilma, a simple loving dolphin, grew up to be a lovely mermaid.  Her father had given her absolutely no powers, but she loved and was loved by the creatures of the sea.

Willie often saw ugly two legged creatures on the shore and far too often they would invade her sea.  They would spear her friends and take them away to dry land, never to be seen again.  She hated the two leggers and she hated the fact that her mother had made friends with some of those ugly creatures.  Her mother had either made friends with the two leggers or had fallen in love with the large tub that floated on the waters.

“Mother, why do you spend so much time with those two leggers?”

“Because, Wilma, your father has left us and set up shop with a whale of a woman.  I intend to stop Poseidon from being so promiscuous.  Those two leggers speak dolphin and they say that there’s a windowless metal tub somewhere at the bottom of the sea, full of evil doers.  They say it’s lying in wait, ready to attack its prey.”

“But, mother, how can a metal tub cause harm?”

“I’m not sure, honey, but I’ve found it and I’m about to lead my two legged friends to it.  They tell me that if they find it, they will take care of my problems with Poseidon.”

And so, Wilma led her friends in the floating vessel to the tub below.

Proud and frilly

Let her mother go

For little Willie

That was silly

But she had no way to know.

When the naval ship found the submarine they sent a depth charge off, setting off the h-bomb hidden in the submarine and making Wilma’s wish come true.  The blast sent Poseidon up to Mount Olympus and after that,  he had no desire to visit Earth again. It was devoid of all life forms.

The moral is:  Be careful what you wish for.

Challenge:Last week's challenge was to take a known Greek god/goddess or create a new one and tell us the story that created a child. This week, tell us the story of this child. Is he/she mortal or half mortal? Perhaps the child is a full fledged god/goddess. Describe him/her to us and tell us the child's life story (or at least a few adventures).
