The "Beatific
Vision" appears when we "Let
It Be As It Is."
Allowing "What Is"
To be "As It Is" restores
"The Vision of God."
Letting "Whatever
Is" be "As It Is" reveals
"The Beauty of All."
[Rich Note: These evolved from a wonderful guided meditation by Adyashanti called, "Exploring What Is," in which he proposes that we ask the question: "What happens when I allow everything to be?" A meditation that morphs into an experiential exploration (rather then a cognitive exercise) capable of ..."inducing a deep state of listening (or Awareness) by simply asking the question...(and)...absolutely allowing what is to be (as it is)..."]
[Rich Note: (Photo Caption) The Tree of Life (2012); Although this Violet, Christmas Tree-Like mosaic includes a lot of esoteric symbolism (Re: 7 primary colors, vibrations, candle sticks, seals, churches and chakras), it was the diamond mirror that allowed the subsequent creative inclusion of the "Single, All-Seeing (Revealing) Eye (of the Spirit of God as the Awareness I Am) at the top that's the real Divine Attention grabber; Companion Haiku: Letting It Be As It Is in Spirit and Truth restores Paradise.]

Re: "Eastern thinking is worth exploration."
Yes, Robert, for in thus shifting to (and experiencing) an alternate frame of reference (one whose premise is absolute oneness instead of relative twoness) we pass through the "frameless frame of reference" (Re: a Still, Balance Point of Perfect Silence and Peace) of Pure Awareness that both includes (weds or re-unites) and transcends the Inner Knowing (Intuition) of the East and Outer Self-Reflection (Intellect) of the West.
"OH, East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet,
Till Earth and Sky stand presently at God’s great Judgment Seat;
But there is neither East nor West, Border, nor Breed, nor Birth,
When two strong men stand face to face, tho’ they come from the ends of the earth!..."]
But, as you yourself note, this is really about learning how to live with what can't be changed, by noticing what occurs when we ask the question: "What happens when we accept this moment exactly as it is?"; and doing so without "paying any particular attention" to all the "personal mental judgements, opinions, likes and dislikes, etc." that energizes the mind's habitual inclination to "grasp, escape, change or control" whatever it may find "attractive or distasteful."
This we do as an internal, experiential exercise that can actually become a "Meditative Prayer of Pure Stillness and Silent" (as Adyashanti suggests), if we allow the "Heart of the Awareness We Are" to fully open to the "Absolute Stillness and Silence at Its Source"-- a Prayer that may so enable more "direct, objective, clear and righteous seeing" of what might be called "good"(right) or "bad" (wrong) (where Good equals "Life affirming and expanding"; and Bad equals "Life denying and contracting") in daily life.
So, at least seen from a top-down standpoint or higher perspective, this really isn't about relative "right or wrong," "good or bad," as defined by personal preference and human sensibilities, Olive; but rather about seeing "self-referenced mind's" conditioned resistance to "What Is" based on personal likes and dislikes; and seeing what "shows up" when mind's self-reinforcing habit of "resistance to what is" is subverted by consciously noticing what occurs when we ask (and, perhaps, actually live) the question: "What happens when we allow What Is to be As It Is?"
(Thanks for the opportunity to address this particular point in more detail, Olive.)

Your warm, gentle, and equally touching response clearly indicates the "simply profundity" offered "Struck Home (resonated) in Our Common Heart"; and actually could be conveyed (in an "evocative" kind of way) through a "simple stringing of words in a new way" (as Bill Samuel is fond of saying).
Thank You, for your Wonderfully Divine Reciprocation -- It was and Is Much Appreciated!

Mary Oliver wrote a poem about holding a grasshopper.
This grasshopper, I mean-
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down-
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
That's life too. Feeding a grasshopper, sugar out of one's hand.
Just Living Life…As It Is
Re: "The older I get, the longer I've lived, the less important this rather than that seems."
"Aha" (an "old favorite insight" and a "perfect hi-lighting, counter-point" to "Letting It Be As It Is"):
Or "The Ballad of 'This' and 'That'!"
(With apologies to Rudyard Kipling)
(1) First, some "Original Oldies" resurrected from Appendix H of OOMM:
"To mind" is to pay
Attention to "this" to the
Exclusion of "that."
Attending to "this"
While ignoring "that" divides
Conscious Awareness.
When I "mind this" and
"Ignore that" I divide the
Consciousness I Am.
A mind split between
“This” and “that” is a
Self-divided house.
Alternating one’s
Attention between "this" and
"That" fragments Being.
Minding "this" to the
Exclusion of "that" ignores
The knowledge I Am.
If you choose God you
Will not have to choose between
"This" and "that" again.
Amazingly, Roger, That ("Life Living Itself," in and as Itself, As It Is, with or without an "overlaid, mental story-line ") Is All Anyone Ever Really Is "Do/Be Doing."
The "Grasshopper Mind"
Stops "jumping around" when fed
The "Nectar of Life."
The "Grasshopper Mind"
Jumps from "this to that" till fed
The "Nectar of Life."
[Rich Note: Although this might be viewed as "off-stream" (except, of course, in a "contra-distinctive way), I seem compelled to share "the hay-ku that came up" in response to "a very well-intentioned" (and, remember, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions") preacher's "twitting" that, "God forgives 'my ongoing sin' (ever thou Jesus himself specifically said, "go and sin more") with His 'inexhaustible forgiveness'..."
Which I would suggest, is an obsolete (in an age of ever advancing -- although who would know it -- intelligence and reason) "old school doctrinal interpretation," that entirely "misses the point" as to what "sin (from a Top-Down perspective) actually is" (Re: Divine Self-Ignorance and the carnally grounded, personally self-centered action so fostered).
But even worse, said doctrine (which, being alogical, must be accepted as matter of pure faith) actually serves to "confirm, legitimize and thus reinforce" the "alleged sinner's" false belief in "his sense reported, relative separation from an Absolute God"; and, to make matters even worse, not only doesn't comfort "said alleged sinner," it puts him in a classic, "damed if I do, damed if I don't, double-bind."]

"Ongoing faith" in

"Continued sin" is

This "mental frame" of
Personal self-reference
"I" call "me" is "sin."
"Sin" is believing
I can be separate from
"An Absolute God."
"Sin" is believing

"Sin" is on-going
Faith in the false report of

"Sin" is on-going

Chapter 463 - Sinful use of Air Compression
I am a Sinner........
What I am as ultimate subject is all objects.
As relative subject, I am the observer of a named object in consciousness.....Rich, Roger, Sinner, etc. As subject limited by the concepts of space and time, I become identified with a named object which then appears to be an independent entity.....Rich, Roger, or Sinner.
In true realization, when as I AM, I realise that the named object in consciousness is such only (merely a named object)...........identification ceases, and I am no longer limited.
The conceptual bondage is over, and I know myself as what I really am(I AM). Which is all apparent objects which appear in consciousness.... while I remain, as always, no 'thing' at all.
