Shoulda, coulda, didn't make it in 2012
Okay, Greg. Assuming your cats have clean boxes, I figured I should respond to your prompt. I wasn't going to post this story and I didn't do it last year, but you said to "get crack'n". So, with a new year and your rather blunt egging me on, here it is. (Yes I cheated again - two prompts in one). Your cat boxes are clean, aren't they?
The poor disappointed devil
The devil was so excited by the gift the demon had promised him. Imagine his disappointment when the demon appeared at the devil's birthday party with nothing to offer.
The devil, in his rage and flowing lava tears, screeched at the little demon. "You promised me that bluebird's soul."
"I am sorry, your lowness. I was the highest bidder for the marplot's soul, but the bluebird tricked me and I had to give it back. I forgot to limit my bid to the life of her mortal body."
"There are no returns allowed in Hades. You, demon, have been a great disappointment since you arrived here. You are no longer welcomed here." With that, the devil ousted the little demon, sending him onto the streets of Nome, Alaska, causing global warming.
The little bluebird, with her soul intact and having overheard the devil decided to travel to find her demon. He will owed her. He owed her for eternity and must grant her every wish, or so she thought. On her way searching for the demon, she had some fun as a poltergeist, but soon tired of it as most mortals saw right through her.
When at last she found the demon, her disappointment was overwhelming as was the demons. The marplot's because the demon no longer had the power to grant her wishes and the demon because he was freakin cold.

If the evil doom sayers are right about global warming, then this may be a true story.

This week's challenge: what would have been or should have been.
It is New Year's Eve. What could be a better time to hash out what should have been and what would have been had we done this or that. Well, don't find yourself with a would-have-been essay next week. Get crack'n.
FWE Challange: The prompt for FWE for 12/28/2012, in the absence of our new mom Andrea, is disappointment. Be certain to include “FWE-Disappointment” in your title, tag with FWE, and post to Gather Writing Essential.
