I reassure thee no cowboy you see
has a narrow minded orthodoxy.
Though I am a bit of a zealot
when it comes to the climate.
As a cowboy,
please allow me to give ya the jist
why I'm a cowboy environmentalist.
You will not e'r see
one more embedded in ecology
than yer cowboy.
He's right there at the front;
he takes the full brunt
of every climate calamity
projected to increase in frequency,
our cowboy.
I get a bit put out
with more floods, fires, and droughts
as humanity thoughtlessly passes
e'r more greenhouse gases.
While a cowboy
Â
lives and breathes liberty,
he also faces reality.
He's got to face facts
that he's not gonna last
with standards that are lax.
Â
Knows our cowboy,
the tyrant stalking you,
physical principles shown true
in repeatable experiments fun,
climate change being one.
Â
The code of the cowboy,
Live and let live,
a fair rule to the game.
Live and let die?
Leaves an old cowboy ashamed
Â
of the whole human race.
Â
While some cowboys yer sent
can be intransigent,
and not be the first one to jump
up to help ya clean up the joint,
but then what'd be the point
Â
in a world without cowboys?
Â
Our cowboy can be
his own worst enemy,
but when things get bad,
the best friend ya e'r had
Â
is our cowboy.
Though not one of those
who lives to chastise foes,
not a dictator, not the police,
I give you stern notice:
Â
This cowboy loves you.
Â
Love ya fiercely I do,
I will not stand by while you
let city slickers through
slick talk buy cheap off a you
Â
the family fortune.
Â
Whether you don't like it or do,
this ole cowboy loves you.
Â
Yeah, this ole cowboy loves you ew ew ew ew
Â
and there aint nothin you can do about it.

I tell you this. The above is an authentic cowboy song. Not saying it's a good cowboy song. But it is authentic. And sincere.
