Hi, People,
It was another insane week, involving water mains bursting and the city hitting a gas line and us (and several neighbors) getting evacuated from our house... But I'm grateful for good neighbors whose water hadn't been turned off.
The induction has been scheduled. Hoping the baby comes on her own, though.
I don't have much time this week - we just picked up my in-laws from the airport. I'm super excited to have them here for a couple of weeks. They're wonderful people and I'm really lucky to have them as in-laws. I'm writing this as they converse around me - it's hard to concentrate. :-)
For today's prompt, I want you to tell us about an experience you've had with your in-laws. The first time they came to visit, the first time you met them, a time when you didn't get along, or a time when you did. Whatever comes to mind.
If you need an extra bit of help, or just want the challenge, use the following words:
- Knob
- Flower
- Sword
- Biscuit
(The words were provided by my in-laws and hubby. :-))
Remember:
The best way for me to get your post is to message me the link to it as soon as you've written it, or to post a link to it in the comment section below.
You have until Thursday, December 13, 2012 at midnight to write and post, and it can be in any format.
I will read, comment on, and feature your responses a week from today. You know, if I haven't gone into labor or something. (If that ever happens...)
* Have your title say FWE or Friday Writing Essential, and have the initials "WILC" (When the In-Laws Come) in it.
* Make sure to post to the Writing Essential Group.

If you know of any other responses, please post them in the comments below. I'm still missing responses occasionally.

People who I do not know will pull me aside in the hardware store, or the pizza parlor or at SuperValue and tell me how Barb (my mother-in-law) saved them during the farm crisis of the 80's. As well as being a farmer herself, she ran a small accounting business and understood the in's and out's of banking and the legal system. She used this knowledge to guide her neighbors through hard times.
When people say she saved them, they are being literal. During the farm crisis, farms were seized, families broken up and lives lost to stress and suicide.
I'd love a minimum of fuss. That would be nice. :-)
She must come from some amazing genes. :) I bet I would love your wife. She sounds like an amazing gal.
Blessings as you welcome a new member of your family.
And thank you!
You knew John was a retired doctor, didn't you?
And you've got a lot of experience. I have to admit, I'm a little envious. :-) I'll bet it's hard to read certain medical thrillers, though. :-)
Best wishes, Andrea and family.
Yes, a fun prompt.
Andrea, your family is just starting. You have many years to look forward to and I just know that they will all be great years. AND, we will all get to see pictures of the new little girl real soon, Woo Hoo!
But I AM looking forward to seeing the baby. :-)
I don't think heaven is the place to be giving anyone a piece of your mind. LOL
Connie, Connie, Connie .... (sigh) What can I say? Hmmmm, I think you told me on another post that I can't have two favorite colors and if I remember correctly I informed you that "I most certainly can", all because I say so (so there). Sooooooo, I most certainly can fuss at my husband for dying and leaving without me when I get to heaven. I just may even call all the angels to sing the "Hallelujah chorus " as background music for the event (so there again!). LOL!
Yep, you told me that you could have all the colors you wanted. . so to speak. You put me in my place. LOL
Hey, the "favorite color" subject just might make a good writing prompt. I shall write a story about my "red" world (color, not politics) - maybe! LOL!
Thanks for posting to the In-Law Wall on The Triple Name Club where it's now featured.
I think she does an amazing job! As do all the WE editors. I am so proud of each of them.
You have a wonderful weekend.
Just letting you know I am here doing my thing!
You sure had a crazy week! Calm down, take a breath and leave everything in Heavenly Father's hands. Can't wait to see photos of that little girl!
:)
We sure love you here!
Let's get together and fly to Utah to hold that baby! Will you pay? LOL
I think your situation may have been a bit different. You really don't need me to explain it to you, do you? :)
