Challenge: Write a story or poem about a romantic space comedy set on Mars* This is part II of a two part attempt at writing any sort of science fiction or romance. It may be that I have lost readers already. If that is the case blame it on Pam. If I still have readers than it can only be because of my work being so good or something like that or maybe it's nothing like that.
With O. Henry and Willy Wonka working together the most wonderful candy ever known was invented and old candy that had been made for years before was improved on in such a way that it made the old candy seem new again. Ideas and dreams became candy almost at the speed of sound. There were so many new candies being created that Willy Wonka Inc’s. Advertising department had to work around the clock just to keep up with all of the new candies.
Some of the new candies included: Candy bars that were much like the Milky Way but had chewy centers that were both sweet and spicy hot. The candy bar was so good that many Mexican and Thai restaurants were including it on their desert menu. There was a candy like Star Burst that gave a burst of flavor giving pleasure to the taste buds a lot like fireworks with a burst of light gives pleasure to the eyes. They made a gum called Iceberg. Not only was it refreshing just to have in your mouth but for every chew it was like drinking a four ounce glass of ice cold pure water. This was especially welcome for people living in the desert or working outside in hot weather. They made an Anti Nuclear Warhead that from the moment the candy was out of its wrapper and into the mouth it tasted so sweet that everyone who tried it would develop such kind thoughts that they would find it impossible to be violent in any way except to gnats, mosquitoes and cockroaches. They made a licorice that was delicious and nutritious called Good N Healthy. Each licorice piece had as much beta-carotene in it as three carrots, enough vitamin C in each piece as two oranges and as much potassium in it as a banana. With special permission from Santa Clause a chocolate candy bar was developed that was so superb that it was much like the actual cocoa that Santa drank at the North Pole. Fittingly it was called Christmas Cocoa bar. For those who were coffee aficionados there was a version called Christmas Coffee Cocoa bar but Santa did not endorse that as he never drank coffee.
For the first eight months Willy Wonka, O. Henry, Mike & Ike had little time for anything but creating and making candy. This was not a problem for Willy since for him a relaxing time was spent making candy, He could get a good rest just by standing in a candy store and enjoying watching the activities and smelling the wonderful smells. His favorite vacation spot was Cocoa Beach. Mike and Ike were both married to the most understanding, patient wives. Everyone who was anybody on earth knew Mike's wife Mary Jane. She had a smooth sweet exterior but was just a little nutty inside. Ike's wife wasn't as well known as Mary Jane but for those who knew her they agreed that she was everyone's favorite. Her name was Peppermint Patty. She was a bit spicy but had a way of calming everyone down no matter how upsetting the moments were. O. Henry was a bachelor but unlike Willy Wonka he did not choose to be.
O' Henry had been single for a very long time. For a short time he had been with a girl named Kit Kat. He had fallen hard for her but it turned out that she was Rollo's girl a bad nut from the M& M Gang. When he found out about her and Rollo he was more than just a little angry with Kit Kat. He told anyone who would listen what she had done to him and to Rollo. He thought it was absolutely Nutragious. Rollo let it be known that if he had a chance he would borrow the bazooka from Bazooka Joe and blow O' Henry in to a million skittles. Rollo was not one who gave idle threats. Moving to Mars was one of the best moves that O' Henry had made in his life.
On Pay Day O. Henry had a pocket full of sugar. He was lonely so he paid a visit to one of the social establishments in the settlement. He first visited the fanciest bar he could find, The One Hundred Grand Bar. As soon as he entered it he discovered just because the bar was fancy it didn't mean that everyone in it were high class. He first heard the sound of loud laughter and then saw five very rough looking men who could only be the Jolly Ranchers. He had been one of the few who had ever beaten them at poker. They always figured that he had cheated them but they could never figure out how so they were very wary of him. The Jolly Ranchers were cattle ranchers even on Mars but they were also gamblers who knew how to cheat at cards better than most any man alive except O' Henry. O' Henry could cheat at playing cards when he had to but he chose not to cheat except when playing card sharks or people who were obviously cheating. O' Henry learned to cheat to protect himself from cheaters and found cheating to be very distasteful. The Jolly Ranchers had no problem with cheating in fact they thought of it as a good wholesome hobby. As O' Henry glared at them he saw that their victim was an Airhead. He knew a lot of Airheads. They weren't known as having a lot common sense as a family. One on one some of them had no common sense whatsoever. He wasn't sure about this one. He knew that their Airhead who the Jolly Ranchers were playing cards with didn't stand a chance against them. He was going to put a stop to it when one of the Jolly Ranchers recognized him and said, "Zagnut it's O' Henry." They gathered up their cards and told the Airhead that something came up but that maybe they could play another game the next day.
O' Henry walked slowly to the bar and ordered a Butter scotch on the rocks. O' Henry was not the best looking man but he had developed a kissing technique that no woman could resist. One kiss and that was it. In honor of how women loved his kiss he named it after them Her She or hershey kiss. Few men could kiss like O' Henry and his reputation preceded him. When he started drinking a woman at the other end of the bar recognized him. She had displayed her body very well. Her wrapper hardly covered very much of her. Without looking too hard he noticed that she had very nice mounds. She stood as close to O' Henry as she could and ordered a cup o gold. She turned to him and said, "Hi Handsome, haven't seen you around before. My name is Tootsie, Tootsie Roll. They visited a bit and then very soon he gave her her first hershey kiss. She couldn't get enough of them. They kissed & kissed. Between kisses they drank a lot until finally Tootsie Roll said that she had to use the ladies room. She must have gotten lost because she never came out or at the very least she never came back to O' Henry.
A little while after Tootsie left O' Henry a group of six gentlemen wearing big glasses carrying calculators, cell phones and tablets came over to him and stood around him. O' Henry said, "Let me guess, you fellows are nerds right?" They nodded and then one of them said, "We have been noticing the girl you have been kissing, do you know who she is?” O' Henry said, Sure I do she is Tootsie Roll." There were snickers from all six of the nerds. Another one said," That's not Tootsie Roll that's Pixy Stix Tootsie's cousin. She is one of the best pick pockets in the universe. Missing anything?" He felt for his sugar and over half of it was gone. The nerds nodded their heads. One said, "She got all of us at least once. Her nick name is Butterfingers. Her fingers can slip in and out of any man's pocket anywhere." O' Henry was disgusted with himself for allowing Tootsie Roll or Pixy Stix or whatever her name was to take advantage of him. He thanked the Nerds for their information and left the bar hearing their snickers softly behind him.
He walked around for awhile to clear his head. He had half of the sugar that was in his pocket taken from him but there was a lot more sugar in his bank. Finally he stopped at a bar called Mars Bar. It had soft lights making it hard for him to see when he entered the bar. At first he didn't see anyone but when his eyes adjusted to the light he noticed just three customers in the bar but not at the bar. There were a couple of goobers sharing some stories and chuckles on one side of the bar. On the other side was a beautiful woman eating alone. She was a real babe. He wanted more than anything to meet her. He just wasn't sure how. The bartender who was also the owner noticed O' Henry and who he was looking at. He was the biggest man O' Henry had ever seen. He was called Jelly Belly. When he laughed his belly shook like a bowl full of jelly. He loved candy and recognized O' Henry. He felt honored to have him in his bar. He thought maybe he could help O' Henry with his little problem. Jelly Belly called out to the girl and said, "Hey why can't this gentleman share your table? Got anything wrong with you two eating together? No sense dirtying two tables." Jelly laughed. Watching his belly shake made them both laugh. The girl agreed to allow O' Henry to share her table. There was something about his eyes that made her want to know him better. She told him that her name was Ruth but that some called her Baby Ruth. She wasn't sure why they just did. It was love at first sight for both of them. He thought that she was just the sweetest girl he had ever met while she thought he was just full of goodness.
Very soon they tied the licorice knot. She called him her Sugar Daddy. She was his Baby Ruth and he knew why. In a year they had the first of their two sugar babies. Their first baby was a girl who they called Goo Goo Cluster but as she grew she had a nick name of Rasinet. The next child was a son who they named after O' Henry but they called him Junior Mints. Mints was O' Henry's middle name.
It was said that this was one of the sweetest families in the Milky Way. O' Henry's family became fast friends with Mike & Ike's families. All three families even enjoyed the same music. It was not uncommon to hear the music of "Sugar Sugar" or "I've Got Candy" from all three of their homes, in their car radios or on their I pods. Willy Wonka couldn't have been more pleased with how things turned out. He never got married but these families were his family as far as everyone was concerned. He was a generous family member to his family and gave out plenty of candy and sugar whenever he visited them.
This is a sweet story so everyone lived happily ever after.

I love the way you incorporated the names of candies and candy bars...
....Even in Mars they : "find it impossible to be violent in any way except to gnats, mosquitoes and cockroaches"
Kevin, you should just stay out of your box. Your humor and writing is 'out of this world'.
Um, want some fudge I made yesterday that failed to set up?
Those who are as good as you are having fun have real talent my friend!
