Going Fishing -- a short story
I walked to the edge of the pond with my fishing pole in hand and plopped myself down close to the dead tree limb. The sun was peeping out from behind the fluffy white clouds. The earth was warm and a gentle breeze was blowing. The big green mosquito hawks were darting about over the water surface searching for whatever they search for. I baited my hook with a worm from my syrup bucket container and dropped the hook into the pond water and waited. My old straw fishing hat shaded my eyes for perfect viewing. All was well in my twelve year old world.
The day wore on and the sun was getting lower in the sky. My hook was still in the water and the bobber had not moved except to float around with the ripples created by the racing water bugs. It was finally time to go home. No fish.
As I pulled my fish hook out of the water it created more ripples and the sun came out from behind a cloud at the same time and struck the water at the perfect angle for creating a rainbow across the pond water. A dancing rainbow caused by the ripples from the un-nibbled fish hook. It was my rainbow and I was blessed to gaze in wonder upon such a thing. All was well in my twelve year old world.

My husband was a pilot during his career. We flew over Mount Shasta one day and I saw a rainbow. I pointed to it and yelled, "FLY INTO THE RAINBOW." My husband smiled and pulled the wing up to fly in that direction. As we flew toward the rainbow it turned into a circle and we flew through the rainbow circulating the airplane. It was so beautiful. A camera couldn't do justice to that moment.
I have a prism on the window sill in my kitchen window and every morning when the sun is in that perfect spot on the horizon I get the most beautiful rainbow on my kitchen wall and cabinets. I like to hold out my hands and pretend I'm holding the rainbow or open my mouth and pretend I'm swallowing a rainbow. Rainbows are beautiful. I had a hard time trying to draw a translucent rainbow on MS paint because it's all done with little dots and I just couldn't get it right so I ended up just leaving "well enough alone". It's easy to do a rainbow with watercolors or oil paints because you just make your paint thin and paint over wherever you want the rainbow to be .... but I just couldn't get the colors right in this doodle so I just gave up and posted what I have. LOL .... it was fun to do because it's what I like doing.
Speaking of what I like doing (and I was) I'm going to do a study on all the Jewish feast days, particularly the Sukkot feast that Tim Beeker wrote about ... it peaked my interest. I mention this because I notice that you left a comment on his article.
