REMEMBERING 9-11 ---AN EVENSONG MEMORIAL

Here we sit in the sacred shadows

Of that September 11 aftermath fray;

Our memorial salute to the Heroes

----Of that horrific historic day.

Our prayers go out for the families

And young offspring on the grow;

Only His touch can heal broken hearts

----And sustain them as they go.

Here we sit in the sanctuary shadows

Our Memorial ascending up today;

God--only You can bring peace on earth

----The real reason we pause to pray.

What an absolutely beautiful, very well written poem! I just did a post a little while ago about where people remember this tragedy or not. Our governor proclaimed that every flag in the state be lowered to half staff today in remembrance of the tragedy. Sadly to say, when I was taking our son to work this morning, less than half the flags I saw were at half staff.......needless to say, I was rather upset and very disappointed.
