Burnt ember leaves play like a melancholic sonnet in my chest.
A wistful bereavement is knocking beneath my eyelids as the ‘English Fall’ leans wearily in my thought ravaged head.
The English Fall whispers:
"A dream once green has aged to a vintage cream.
I fear, the color is almost faded…
Neglect has seduced a dream to nothingness.
Oh, I was such a splendid dream.
Such a dream I was and now I shall be wasted.”

A feeling of missed opportunity
Perhaps a summer lost
A possibility glossed over
A future reality tossed
Lovely, wistful poetry, Lauren.
