The transportation!
It was a wonderful time riding on the bus and the rapid (subway).
I remember riding the rapid, and hearing the sound of cold rail tracks making a much louder noise at that time than at any other time.
It took the city over 10 years to get around to laying tracks that would go all the way from Windimere rapid station to the airport.
But! They did it!
The buses!
At the time!
There were these types of buses were at night even though there were lights inside the bus.
The lights were very dim.
You could see where you were going!
But! As far as seeing what change you had or reading the newspaper.
Forget it!
The seats on those buses were vinyl covered padded seats.
Then later!
The seats were hard, thick plastic.
Then they changed it to a thin cloth covered , thin padded seats.
The local transportation Co. Offered it's riders during the summertime to join them on a trip to Ceder Point (in Sandusky, Ohio) each year.
And any special trips as well. They even had 1 bus that took people to the zoo.
They had for every child a box of animal crackers.
There was another rapid transit Co. Called the Shaker Heights rapid.
It only took people that lived on their route.
To which there were people that lived on the east side of Cleveland because the rapid had to go through the east side.
Then! It would go into the city of Shaker Heights.
(The rich people's suburb!)
The only drawback to using public transportation!
Are the different types/kinds of weather you had to put up with while waiting for it.
But! I guess that comes with the territory
