Heat from a different

vein

but the same

Male and female

Having just made love

The PERFECT kind..

Man and woman

Deliciously unwind

Decide to "light up,"

In a different way

To light or not to light

Where there is smoke

There is fire

Want and need

Heated desire

Woman strikes a match

Inhales

With red pursed lips

blows

all silently

Man flicks the lid

with strong fingers

and a metallic edge

And his Zippo

comes alive

With a Zippo

the fire is there

when its needed!

creativity

always heeded

always on the ready

when needed!

(Note here: Zippo lighters are produced still in Bradford,

Pennsylvania and the old lighters are prized possessions

of collectors even as new versions are being created every

day.)

Absolute perfection, Barbara; I don't know how you came up with that, but it certainly works.

Another note regarding Zippo lighters is that they're still guaranteed for life. No matter how long you've had it, if it breaks, send it to them and they'll fix it for free.

My dad was a pipe smoker and always carried a Zippo. I also smoked a pipe in college, med school and for a while afterward; I also carried a Zippo. I wonder if there's one stored away in a box somewhere.

Most certainly John! I have found a tobacco can full of Zippos in Bill's dad's cellar ceiling rafters. He was a hoarder but a NEAT one and has everything organized and placed here and there in babyfood jars (screws, nuts and bolts) and as in the case of the Zippos, the tobacco can. Have fun looking!

Beautifully observed-- this reminds me of a scene in an old black and white movie. Thanks for sharing with Gather's Luminous Writers and Artists. Featured.

Thank you Ann. Yes, there were many scenes shot around the cigarette habit. One especially of an actor lighting two cigarettes and handing one to his lady. I think it was Bette Davis and I can picture the actor in my mind but cannot remember his name, Paul Heinreid comes to mind.
