Catlin
They called her Cat, short for Catlin. She's not well known nor is she mentioned widely in ancient greek tabloids, but there is a small reference to her and her goddess power.
She was short and quite hairy, which explains why she wasn't heralded as a great goddess. Nevertheless, we owe her a great deal because of her gift. Her gift was producing mighty hair balls, capable of speeding through galaxies forever.
This particular one mentioned in the tabloids was different. It could have been diarrea, but we'll never know. We do know that it was quite watery. When this hair ball flew into the galaxies, it was so heavy with saliva that it slowed down and eventually stayed in a galaxy to orbit a sun.
The organic matter in the hair ball took shape, form and life, all living within Cat's saliva. One day (actually billions of days), a few changed and grew wings. Some grew big feet. Saliva was their sustenance and they found they could ski and play over it.
The saliva in return made them slick. As the hair ball warmed and cooled, over billions of years, they changed again into the dreaded species.
We call them politicians.

Oh, sorry about grossing you out. Magic made me do it.
As a minor critique: I felt the ending sentence a bit too abrupt; more like that of soft shock humor. I just think you need a bit more of a transition into this to catch the reader more off guard.
