Saturday Writing Essential: The Adventures of Splatman

A little parody for all you Bat Fans out there:

The Adventures of Splatman

This is the tale of a city, the bright, happy city of Awesom, and its vigilante hero.

The story began years ago, in a stately manor tucked away on a sprawling estate, with the boy that lived there.

Not orphaned at a young age, but raised by doting and very, very rich parents, the spoiled rotten child Deuce Bayne grew up one of the privileged and bored out of his mind. So on a whim, and as a feckless adult, he donned a cape and cowl (after first figuring out what the heck a “cowl” was) to prowl the streets as the hero Grey Paladin.

Unfortunately for him, the criminals nicknamed him Splatman and the name stuck, as it was quite appropriate. For you see, poor Deuce tried to fight crime but being a rich pampered person he sucked at it, and after his 32^nd trip to the hospital (when his insurance company threatened to cancel his policy) he threw in the cowl and retired.

Luckily for the citizens of Awesom, Deuce’s unofficial sidekick, Loon, immediately donned the mantle of Splatman to become a world famous superhero and scourge on crime.

But that’s another story.

Challenge: Pick a movie, book, play, song, or TV program and, using prose or poetry, write a parody of it.
