We stood on the beach my angel
with the breeze from the sea at our back
and waited in tension and horror
for this planet to suddenly crack...
and the noise when it came was like thunder
amplified and burning our ears
and the seas drained away to nowhere,
I was holding your hand and in tears...
for the day turned to night in that instant,
we knew we were going to die,
but in the chaos that surged all around me
I thought I heard your silent cry...
It reached through the torrent of madness
like a feather might reach through cold stone
and it touched my heart with its silence,
and suddenly dear, we were alone....
and the crack in the earth mended over,
we lay on the burnished sand,
my heart, it was pounding wildly,
only the rescued could understand....
and naked, our skins were touching,
we connected like lovers do,
and above us the power in our passions
turned the clouds to the gentlest blue...
