I loved the quote...I love his poetry...his outrageousness. He was a staunch supporter of the arts. An interesting biography. One of those quirky artist types.

I like that one too...I love his outrageous points of view, that, although shocking to some, tend to be true... some like life to be sugar coated... Baudelaire seems to prefer visceral truth...

I'm trying understand this on the basis of my feelings for men. I get Baudelaire's first point, but as for the second, I'd rather be the gazer than the "gazee."

Then you'd need a man worthy of such a look, but I think he refers to this beauty as the gazer. Such a wonderful feeling to be eaten alive by a steady, sultry gaze.
