Saturday Writing Essential

A NEW WORLD

..this land of IS

is what it WAS

when just a thought

'tween you and me

all the delicious need

set free

in this WORLD

of YOU and ME

selfish thoughts

of touching, loving

only

between us two

IT IS ENOUGH

no appetite unheeded

our earthy fields

deeply seeded

grow in the sunshine

of the love

that lives now

as it should have then

WHEN we wished it would

today is ours

as yesterday was

and tomorrow will be

just you and me

we've known the past

and it is ours

to last in memory

tomorrow is not

yet will be

in tandem thought

because

we pause

to take

our selfish glide

on the ride

we've designed

to fit

like hand and glove

the forever love

spoon fed

the sustenance

that KEEPS us

in this land of IS

is OURS!

Very nice take on the prompt. I think it would be stronger if your words were gathered into stanzas, though.

I echo Elizabeth, this strikes me as a poem that honors everyone in love and everyone who has every been in love. My sympathy keeps going out to you and think of your fine husband.
