Thursday's Writing Essential July 26, 2012 Feeling Olympic

We have had a great time at the track meet and have been able to reflect on some very interesting thoughts, but it is time to go. We have to go right now because there is something very spectacular about to happen and we don't want to miss it. It is indeed an athletic event or rather a collection of athletic events. This is among the oldest scheduled sporting events in the world. The first known event was in 776 BC. We are going to The Summer Olympics in London England, at least in our minds. Opening Ceremonies are Friday night.

There will be so much to see, the pageantry of the opening and closing ceremonies, so many athletic events to see, from soccer to archery, from swimming to shooting,from gymnastics to wrestling and more. We will be able to see track and field as well of course in these Summer Olympics but track and field is only one part of the Summer Olympics.

There is a feeling of pride in the Olympic Village even today the day before Opening Ceremonies. There should be. The athletes waiting to compete are their country's best. Being our best, doing our best, striving for excellence are feelings not felt enough.

In the Movie Cool Runnings Sanka Coffie said, "I am feeling very Olympic today, how about you?"  Today I am feeling very Olympic.

With more events than in in the track meet there are lots more rules but unlike the Olympics there are just a few limits or rules to to remember for this challenge. One rule to remember is to include the word Olympics 7/26/2012 somewhere in the title.

As always there is a limit of three submissions from each member per day. If you’re extremely prolific, spread out your work and post only three submissions per day.

The challenge has been set. Are you up to the challenge? The gates are about to be opened. Get ready.......................the gates won't go open until midnight but feel free to get ready now.  This looks to be even more of an interesting challenge than any Thursday challenge since I became an editor of Thursday's Writing Essential. Like the Olympics only the best will accept this challenge. I expect to view many medal winning posts.

* After there are three or more posts that have accepted the challenge I will be making a list of them and posting it to Gather Writing Essentials periodically during the next seven days.

As always all genres are welcome including but not limited to: fiction, first person account, historical fiction, non fiction, science fiction, prose,photo essays and any other format I might not have mentioned.
