I've been reading some blogs about sparking creativity, as I have writer's block. Here are some pointers that I think may help me, and by extension, help others.
I follow WOW-Women on Writing, a blog that provides daily writing tips. Some of the ways they suggest on sparking creativity are:
1. Listen to new music - I have to say, I am going to try this one. I love music and have gotten stuck in a rut with replaying all my old CDs. It is time for some new music! Any suggestions?
2. Take a break - this makes so much sense! If you are stuck in a rut because you are forcing yourself to sit for so many hours, you are going to get burnt out. Take a 15 minute break. MOVE AWAY FROM YOUR COMPUTER. Leave your writing room. Go make a fresh pot of coffee. Go outside and soak up some Vit D. Do anything that will give you an energy boost.
3. Make lists - I do this for so many things, already. But, a list can generate a topic, which can generate a sentence, paragraph, page. You may take your writing in a whole new direction.
I follow Writer's Fun Zone, too. This is a blog by a writing teacher. She has posted her ebook in her blog for syndication, so you can find her tips without buying the book.
She has come up with The Writer's Oath, which I think is quite interesting. Perhaps, I will come up with an oath, well, maybe I'll just try to stop swearing at my computer!
Do you have any tips to unblock writer's block or that inspires creativity?

I would never be good as a writer, even though I, myself, talk incessantly......LOL! For anyone, it is NOT good to sit at the computer for long periods of time....I read in my Natural Health newsletter that a person should take a 5 to 10 minute break every 50 minutes that one spends on the computer.
Gosh, with my "tons" of projects and stuff going on, I NEVER even have time to sit at the computer for even an hour at a time.......LOL! Most of my rewards programs have gone by the wayside, as well!
And, someone once said, "retirement is supposed to be relaxing?" Boy, was that person EVER wrong! We're on the go ALL the time and often go through 2 tanks of gas a week!!!!!
Good luck with all your writing projects!
And, I know you all are on the go. I think it's great that you and hubby have so much going on. It truly will keep you active and alive to continue to socialize and be involved in all sorts of activities.
Thanks for stopping by and making such a great comment.
Thanks for stopping and making such a lovely comment.
I only write poetry, I could never write a book! Listening to new Artists certainly inspires me on my special interest of writing about life, loss and love. I'm very eclectic in my song choices these days, but do not listen to a lot of pop. I recently discovered Jessy Martens and Adele, who have inspired me with their lyrics as well as their voices. Hayley Westenra is one of my favorite singers, her voice is so very soothing and uniquely beautiful.
Taking breaks I have neglected in the past, but will definitely heed that advice now, especially after my spinal surgery in February.
I simply love being creative in that way. My poetry is mostly inspired by a wonderful friend, who does keep my poems for herself. That is my greatest pleasure!!
Thank you also for your kind well wishes, Debbie :)
Music suggestions: Lady Antebellum
Peter, Paul, and Mary
Celine Dion
Enya (VERY relaxing)
and if you want to DANCE: P!nk
Lady Antebellum is AMAZING...gorjuss harmonies and all of their music is feel good music.
