This week’s writing challenge: How do you find your way into a stubborn piece of writing?
Mainly, I write just for me. I use writing as an outlet for my emotions. I like to journal to see my thoughts on paper. But when I need to write for a more complex purpose, I often sketch my ideas, and then expand them.
But some days everything can feel stubborn. When I’m completely at a loss, I try to just ramble. Sometimes I find that it helps me clear my mind of things that are blocking me from my writing task.
Still if the sketch and rambling are not getting the words out with the “right” tone or feeling. I try doing the same piece but in another form. Example if I wanted something scary in short story form but the words just would not come, I’d try writing it as a poem.
I do love templates for writing serious, more technical stuff. When my aunt wanted me to start work on a family history for her, I started looking for templates on how to make a census record into an interesting paragraph.

Amazing, you use almost all the common techniques. It is good to have a couple of approaches to fall back on.
