It was ten p.m. on a Friday night and Tammy had been standing in the returns line for an hour. The air conditioning was acting up, going from icebox conditions to sweltering heat. She was already feeling aggravated by the mere wait, and people behind her really started to whine. This did not help as she was simply trying to return her sons gift to her in exchange for something that worked. It was a Tassimo coffee maker. Tammy liked it well enough it just didn't work. Finally she got up to the desk and the guy serving her announced they were closed.
"What? I have been waiting for an hour in sweltering heat just to exchange a coffee maker and you don't even warn people?"
"Store hours are posted on our doors." The clerk was being snotty."Pay attention and you would have known not to bother.
His name tag read Mickey--like the mouse and he sort of resembled a rodent.
"Well Mickey." Good customer service goes a long way. If you simply just credit me for this return I can come back tomorrow and get a new one. I will forget your snotty attitude and all will be will."
"I wish I could lady but I want out of this hell hole as much as you do but I can't."
"It will just take five minutes Mikey." Tammy was trying to remain patient but was feeling the hostility flare up. It was even heading for a homicidal fantasy directed at the little weasel in front of her.
"No can do, lady. Time is up. Just bring your lil old self back tomorrow morning with your lil old problem and maybe somebody will help you."
Tammy was counting to ten but it wasn't helping. "Old? Fine I will come back but your supervisor will be hearing from me. You are the poorest example of a customer service representative I have ever seen!"
"I'm shakin' in me boots! Now go before I forget my manners"
Tammy didn't respond to that quip as she was too angry. Value World was her favorite store and she was not going to stand for bad service but she didn't want to stop shopping there either.
She looked at the clerk who was standing there waiting for a sharp retort. She wasn't giving the rat faced weasel the satisfaction so she grabbed the box and left.
