Sadly to all three or four of you who have enjoyed the theme of journeys for Thursdays Writing Essentials challenge we have reached the end of the journey ....well almost. Before we bid a fond or not so fond goodbye to this theme we have an opportunity in this challenge to give what so many like to give but so few are willing to accept, advice.
The Challenge for Thursday June 14, 2012 is to "Give Advice To Fellow Travelers Beginning The Journey" In the last three or four weeks at least some of us have sat through graduation speeches at graduations where much advice fell on our ears like so many raindrops. Some of it even sank in to a few of us. Rudyard Kipling and Robert Frost not only gave advice but they got paid for it when they wrote IF & The Road Not Taken proving that advice can be a gift that keeps on giving.
Advice to use a cliche is a two edged sword. If it is given at the right time to a person willing to accept it, it can help that person in so many ways and be much appreciated for years to come. If however the advice is given to someone who is not willing to accept the advice it can at best fall on deaf ears. At worst it can offend the person it is intended for and cause ill feelings for years to come. Unfortunately this happens more often than advice being greatly accepted by anyone.
Your challenge for Thursday is simply to imagine your self as a wise old curmudgeon who has learned volumes of lessons on the journey and wants to share all of your wisdom to the unsuspecting victim, I mean new traveler. It can be humorous, serious, completely void of true wisdom or full of brilliance. This can be spiritual or earthy. It can be wisdom your daddy or your mama shared with you or wisdom that they should have shared with you. It can be in song or poetry. It can be in dialogue or story format. Photo essays full of wisdom are needed. All genres are always welcome of course even the ones I failed to mention.
That's right friends this is your chance to empty yourselves of all the advice inside of you. Take the challenge go ahead get all the advice out of your system at least for a little while. You'll be glad you did certainly your family, especially teenagers and everyone else you know will be glad you did.
The challenge has been set. Are you ready to accept this first of the Thursdays Challenges to be a real stress reliever (particularly to those who you live and work with)? Ladies and Gentlemen it is time to move your creativity in to high gear or possibly to submit a post with only a little bit of creativity, just submit it. I look forward to all of the creative or not so creative posts meeting this challenge.
If some of your advice is directed at me I choose the right to take it or ignore it depending on my mood. One last thing; tell your friends and neighbors that they don't have to thank me, I am just doing my civic duty. Remember that this is a Thursday Post. It would help if you could begin submitting your post as close to Thursday as possible. Any post submitted after Thursday will be accepted throughout the week as usual.

This should be fun.
And it's ill received
At the very least
We plant the seed
The seed might grow
Become a mighty oak
Even though forgotten
What we had spoke...
Some spread seeds
That others tend
We all take part
And find at the end
It's not done in vain
To help each other
We'll meet in Heaven
As sisters and brothers

My husband is working next to me on speaker phone and his work laptop... tonight... so I had some time to gather.
Kevin, the finish line - the posts are sure to be interesting.
