A morning mist insists that there is more
Wakes grass and trees from slumber’s night
Silent touch so pure in nature’s lore
Giving green grows gracefully in peace
A reminder of the cycle that is life
Renewal showing summer’s gift increase
Flocks of geese gather to share their tales
In formal dress, their tux to show their best
Little ones in line wondering what next avails
Mama duck sits proudly on her nest of eggs
Little birds hop to and fro with bits of straw
Weaving baskets; Peap! Peap! on spindled legs
A quiet renewal seeps into my soul
As life goes on around me in its flare
A sacred experience to watch unfold
This part of life reveals, so calm, to feel
A part and yet a whole of Creator’s plan
Allows me to go within and touch what’s real
Mama duck slips upon the porch and looks
“Do you have some bread or maybe some corn?”
“I’ll just check around in these cracks and nooks”
All is well at Mallard Cove, a peaceful day
My head is full of poetry and now to write
“What dreams may come” will be my way
