I once had a pet raccoon. I found him along a stream back home. It was a very young one, and I took him to our place. I raised him a little while and he was very playful. I put a cat leash on him and walked him up town. You should have seen the eyes of the people passing by. He stopped and played with everyone that walked by. Anyone could pick him up, and he was a cuddly sort.
As they get older they get mean and like to hiss and bite, so I put him back with his own kind - in the wild. Smiles! :-}
Hope you like my poem. Use it sometime with your other stories and pictures, if you would like to.
Where eagles fly,Don (Greywolf)
BORN THIS WAY!
I hid who I was behind a mask
I'll tell you I was born this way
It was not my choice or pleasure
I'm good with my paws they say
Some days I wish to hide my face
I'm not a bandit - so go away
And please stop judging me
Like I said I was born this way
It's just this hereditary thing
A skunk has a stripe- that's okay
It's just that my stripes circle my eyes
Can't you accept I was born this way?
I spent my days along the water
Fish and crayfish make my day
These are what a raccoon craves
You know the drill - born this way
I love to play and climb in trees
I'm proud of who I am today
Just like a monkey, yes that's me
I can't help I was born this way
A raccoon is not the criminal type
But at least today, I've had my say
Look at me through different eyes
I know for sure I was born this way

People make "pets" of all sorts of things... and there's a TV show about how they die at the mercy of those "pets."
Born this way, indeed.
Cute poem.
You know the story. Everyone loves babies and as long as Rocky acted like a little kid even cops liked holding and playing with him. My Mom and Aunt (Both cops) were the worst. Smiles, thanks for stopping by to comment, friend.
