I recently read a great romance by Sabrina Devlin called Off Limits (see my review)
The heroine is a strong woman who doesn't feel she is strong due to a past bad experience. Amanda Harrington is going through training to become a special agent for the FBI. She is smitten with her physical training instructor and the feeling is mutual.
There are barriers to them getting together such as her reluctance to get involved with anyone. She has a secret that she can't reveal as she doesn't trust Jakes reaction to it. Jake as an instructor cannot get romantically involved with a student.
Hormones get the better of their respective resolves and they get involved. Amanda's past becomes a hurdle and the idea that a long distance romance just won't work from east to west.
But like all romances Amanda comes clean when Jake promises not to judge her for what happened to her during previous training. There is sex yes because raging hormones and lust sells. I was tempted to take many a cold shower because of this book. Judgement got the better of me and I didn't take the kindle into the shower.
Amanda goes back to her job in California and Jake shows up. Needless to say there is a happy ending. I am not going to say anymore except that this fills the criteria for me of what makes a great romance.
