Thursday's Writing Essentials May 17, 2012...

This week’s Gather Writing Essentials challenge continues our look at journeys. For Thursday May 17, 2012 we will focus on weather. Weather affects our journeys in so many ways. The heat of a cloudless day will slow us down even making us stop frequently while a mild beautiful day will not only give us the desire to walk faster but even encourage a little bit of running. A heavy down pour will slow us down as we slosh through the rain while a wind at our back can push us forward. A bad storm will make us seek shelter until the sun comes out refreshingly enough to entice us back on our journey. Weather affects us every day for good or for bad but on our journeys weather has the power to make it easy or hard.

Your Challenge for Thursday May 17^th is to create a post not just about weather but about the weather we encounter on our journeys.

As always all genres are encouraged but for this week there is one limit that must be met if you wish to meet the challenge. The limit is that weather on our journeys must be somewhere in our posts. This would be yet another great challenge for our writers, poets, our photo journalists and our picture book creators.

The challenge has been set. Ladies and Gentlemen I look forward to all of the creative posts meeting this challenge. I have been asked to remind all who can’t wait to meet this challenge to submit your posts no earlier than 12:01 AM. Keep in mind that this is a THURSDAY CHALLENGE. I wouldn’t in anyway want to make things difficult for my friend who edits so well Wednesday.

Kevin, I'm fine with you submitting your post on Wednesday. I suspect that by the time you post, it's Thursday somewhere where some of the GWE members are.

I'll have to think about this challenge. Weather, huh? Wonder how the weather affected Snow White and the uncharming prince.

Pam my good friend I pretty much figured that you wouldn't be bothered by me posting my challenge today because you are such a good friend,but we have a friend who was confused by me posting my challenge earlier in the day. We cannot afford to get anyone annoyed or confused with what we write. Friends are not easy to come by.

Posting Thursday's challenge with a caveat of making sure the challenge is to be met on Thursday later Wednesday is not a bad thing for me to do if it's OK with you and it won't be as confusing.

Snow White what a thought provoker! She might have been blinded by snow and how bout those poor dwarfs (little people?) getting stuck in a snow drift. This cries out for a spin off! Please accept my challenge I know that you will hit it out of the park!

You, sir Kevin are a rouge (sp?). I knew about the confusion - I was there. That's why I woke up early today, had no coffee, rearranged by business schedule and posted mine on Wednesday. I think it's great that you post on Wednesday. It gives me time to think about your challenge and this time, your dare.

The outlook was bleak from the very first day. But I couldn't hold my head up yet or focus my eyes very well. Not knowing made all the difference in my new world. How could I possibly intuit the real weather in a far away time would be of the utmost importance...

...Kevin, first lines off the top of my head due to your creative prompt. I will write this down, perhaps for a future write. Sorry to be AWOL on the prompts.

I have heard many times..weather has a lot to do with people's moods? Now how true this is it may be and it may not be. I know when husband and I was driving through North and South Carolina..first time I experience driving in a heavy rain..heal stones coming down. It scared the livings out of me. When it rains though..it makes me think of God's tears pouring down upon the earth. Good post. Again you always have good posts..

Dotti my friend I am not going to be able to accept this challenge myself until Saturday but I hope to do it justice. Weather certainly does have a lot to do with people's moods. When we lived in California Santa Ana winds really upset my wife. She wasn't alone in this. We knew a lot of people who were effected the same way. Being snow bound does too. Heavy rains for a long period of time does that too. You are very kind my friend, thank you.

I wasn't sure if I completely understood the challenge but I wanted to try it, I am afraid to do the challenges because I have trouble understanding what I am reading...I took on the challenge...tried my best. Good post though. Wish I was as smart as you.

We both share in having dyslexia. I also have dyscalcula as well as TBI so I can sympathize with you. It does have to do with weather either physical or figuratively.

I will never ever make fun of anyone for not understanding something. I am a teacher of children who have profound mental challenges so with all things considered I understand. The only limit here is your creativity and you have a lot of that.

You remind me of a very special Aid teacher..he always put his students education first...Of all my teacher's, Mr. Simpson was the best...you remind me of him..thank you for sharing your knowledge to us students...that has special needs..Mr. Simpson will always say to his class: we have no quitters in our class..He always tells us never give up the fight of life..We need more teachers in our schools like you and Mr. Simpson...teacher's who care about the welfare of their students. I will check your site. No I am Thursday Editor for Gather Writing Essentials. This is owned by Connie with a different Editor for each day of the week. Each of us has a different challenge for each day of the week. I have not been an editor very long only since Feb. My challenges have followed the journey theme since I began and will continue on that theme for at least another 2 weeks.
