There’s dancing in the streets tonight,

Rejoicing, over-awed delight

So don’t tell Mum

Her son’s still over there tonight

And war but half-way won.

 

Remembering those who died between VE day and VJ day.

Excellent, Sheila. I was just a kid, but many of us felt the end was near on VE Day, not fully appreciating the tenacity of the Japanese war effort.
