Unmused
my muse disappeared with naught to say
I didn't hear door slam in the night
no shoes crunch gravel as she walked away
good riddance – who needs anyone to write;
who pens these words, if not I,
to bring tears of sorrow love, joy, or fright
‘tis not easy, I find, as I try and try
but nothing in me strikes harmonic chord
paper balls crumpled fall – my gift belie
time crawls when uninspired - ignored
I wonder - when will she return to me
with hope, I ope' the hasp – unlatch the door
this virgin page glares tauntingly
dares me caress with flaccid pen
stroke words that excite alluringly
but I am most impotent of men
I cannot rise to wield what she craves
if, then, I cannot write, what then
back and forth I pace, my soul grave
dispelling joy - impelling frustration
If only she were here - she would enslave
plant one seed - one spark - elation
one touch her lips - I'd be burning
oh, how crave I now her flirtation
at the window, I await her returning
'tis she, yonder nearing - my yearning heart knows
I hear her voice now – inciting soul churning
one touch and I melt - Begone! - thrumming throes
one kiss - floodgates open - my poetry flows
I found my Mindful Poetry column for the terza rima, but it's lacking in helpfulness. I'll describe how to write one in the rules below. It's confusing to describe, but it makes sense when you see it. Here's a couple terza rimas to consider: John Beck's and one of mine.
If you are new to this group or contest, go here to learn more and then come back to participate in today's challenge.
Follow these rules:
1. Include at least three stanzas plus an envoy. A stanza has three lines An envoy has one or two lines that rhyme with the second line of the stanza preceeding it The first and third line of every stanza rhymes and... ...the second word of each stanza is also the rhyming word of the first and third lines of the subsequent stanza. Another way to consider the rhyme scheme: a-b-a, b-c-b, c-d-c. d-e-d...e-e. This is called an interlocking rhyme scheme.
2. Today's prompt: history
3. Publish so that the date stamped is April 27th with only one stamp-date
4. Tag with MP2012

THANK YOU FOR SHARING AT SURREAL CIRCUS!
My muse, for years, was a man and I actually captured him and kept him chained in my office for months. Uh, wait, what was I saying? Um, maybe I should take off those chains.
Thanks for sharing with Gather’s Luminous Writers & Artists where I have to feature it or my muse will do something really bad to me.
Thanks for the feature, man. You might want to give you muse some time off for good behavior...
Thanks for reading and commenting.
Thank you, Mustafa
Mindful Poetry welcomes all entries late or not.
A wonderful poem.
when absent, the songs don't sing
But when it strikes, the beauty flows
And we're alive from head to toes
