Today's form couldn't be better. I know you'll love it! It's exactly what you wanted.
Additionally, turn about's fair play. You may leave me a ONE word prompt and I will use it in the poem I write for today's challenge. All I ask is that you be reasonable and leave me a word that you would be willing to tackle yourself.
If you are new to this group or contest, go here to learn more and then come back to participate in today's challenge.
Follow these rules:
- Today's form: the choice is yours. Here is a list of forms that Mindful Poetry has covered since September, 2008. If you use a form that hasn't been featured here, please identify it and provide a link to a website where it is described.
- Today's prompt: New York City - if it can be found in NYC, it's acceptable to use in your poem
- Publish so that the date stamped is April 30th with only one stamp-date
- Tag with MP2012
- Publish to Mindful Poetry (and other groups as you wish)
Read today's submissions by others and comment. Here's the link.
Friday we received 14 terza rima submissions to the Mindful Poetry Contest. Here is the Poem-of-the-Day.
Last week we received 80 submissions. Here is the Poem-of-the-Week.
Good luck! Have fun! Read and comment on other contestants here.
Please recommend this post today.
One more item, I've taken Atticus *'s challenge and I hope you will, too. I recorded my trimeric, but if you have another poem from this contest that appeals to you more, read that instead. Tag with mp2012 just like your submissions for the contest. And submit them to Mindful Poetry.

What? Don't you like me? ;-)
My Hemingway Phase
Sesquipedalianism
is for the birds.
From here on in,
each word in this
piece will have
no more than one
Um...I will have to think about the word for a while...after I get some sleep (hopefully)
Big Apple
Metropolitan Art Museum
Central Park
a person (famous or not) who lives there
Times Square
etc.
be nice. :-)
Oh, yes. You wish each of us to leave you a prompt word, or just the first one posted? If you're looking for more than one, I'll leave: "force".
You say generous? It's because I want each of you to love this last day.
to use in your poem, I offer you the word song.
I'll be interested to see what form you choose. what forms we all choose, in fact.
We've had some days of high submission (27 septolets and 28 senryu, for example). I'd like to see folks write what they want and submit lots of poetry. Well, still one per person for competition.
The worst part will be chosing the Poem-of-the-Day because all the styles will be so different.
I hope at some point -- not necessarily right away but after you've had time to reflect on it -- you will write a post about what you've learend, what most surprised you, and the like, from running this.
glad you got a chance to see Bruce Molsky, by the way.
As to Bruce, yeah! I even talked to him about this contest, which he said he knew about. :-)
=she shakes her head incredulously=
I've never been to NYC but can think of one icon I could write about...
Thanks for the great prompts this month, Susan! Some are still haunting me but haven't come out yet.
Starting in May, we at Mindful Poetry will be learning at a much slower rate and hopefully I'll be more in the teaching mode than I was with the contest where I tended to be, I felt, a bit distanced as I read and ranked all the submissions.
Thank you for the April month of challenges. I didn't meet them all, but I did more writing this month than I have in awhile. Thanks for the motivation and encouragement!
Here's a choice of words I challenge you with:
Melancholy
or
brizzle,: a word I found on Squidoo"vb., to scorch near to burning or to slightly singe.
Thanks for sharing with The Surreal Circus.
