Swiped a dollar from my brother
Bought a box of Cracklejack, left me fifty cents
Dropped two quarters in the jute box
Now I’m broke and sitting on a fence
Bought a box of Cracklejack, left me fifty cents
Half-a-dollar, half-a-dollar, ain’t enough
for the fuguepie on the counter
Dropped two quarters in the jute box
Swaying back and fro with my honeybunch
No one’s looking, snuck a kiss
Now I’m broke and sitting on a fence
Scuffing my shoes against the brick wall
Thinking of that kiss, what a chewsy one it was!

And thanks for your support on my poem here, but it truly is no match for many others submitted today. I am agog with the quality of poetry submitted.
Back to beddie for me.
Thanks for sharing!
I enjoyed reading this. I remember when I was in school and cracker jacks was the "in" thing to eat. The prize in the package was always fun. Wow that was a long time ago.
Susan...no fair...your poem can't be beat cuz the words word made especially for this fantastic poem.
Plus, I came up with the words last week and spontaneously last night included them in the prompt. I hadn't been thinking of them all that time. :-) Trust me, this contest is keeping me soooo busy, thinking is about the last thing I do.
What neck of tha woods are you from? I just wondered if fuguepies were similar to moonpies. Surely you remember those, as well as the crackerjacks?
Does anyone know if they're still made and/or the price nowadays?
I love your poem, Susan!
Fuguepie was inspired by fudgepie. I don't know ~where~ that came from.
yes, they still make Moon Pies. the original company makes them, and there are some by other companies like a kind with oatmeal cookies, too. haven't had one in a loong while so not up on current pricing, but now you have me thinking...
You done good here...but you'd better...it's your prompt!
