Which story is true, leave your guess in the comments, after a few comments I will tell you.
Version One
It was April,19th 1968, School would be out in six weeks. I was a Sophmore at Trout Lake High School. Trout Lake is a small rural dairy and logging community located in SE Washington 25 miles North from the Columbia River.
My sister was in 8th grade. She was a bit on the heavy side as a teenager and wore a girdle to keep things in and tight. We road the bus to school about 4 and half miles.
It was report card day. Our bus usually got in about half hour before the first warning bell for first period class started. My sister wanted to get her report card before class started. She joined a line of kids standing in the office area.
The school was K-12 and the lower level had the elementary grades and the gym. The upper level was the Junior high and High school. There was a in between level that held a foyer and led into the lunch room.
Before classes some of us would stand near the balcony and watch for friends arriving. I decided I would wait to get my report card during 3rd period when I took office where I answered phones, ran errands, made copies of papers for teachers tests or quizzes and greeted visitors. Mr D was the principal. He and Mrs. K were handing out report cards.
I stood with my cousin Dot near the balcony watching other kids arrive. Some by bus and those with driver's licenses in trucks and cars. A few kids walked to school who lived only a few blocks away.
One of the sport Jocks drove up and he and his brother and a couple of friends got out and came into the big double school doors. As they mounted the stairs they were laughing and giving different girls a look over. Snickering Ken A saw my sister at the end of the line for those getting report cards. She had bent over a bit showing her ample derriere. Then I saw Ken take a hand fashioned dart out of his jacket pocket and throw it at my sisters rear end. All four boys chortled expecting it to give her a good stab. I started to call a warning but the dart hit and stuck before I could say a word.
I was amazed it just stuck there and my sister did not seemed fazed by it or even aware she had been a target. By that time Ken was literally rolling on the floor laughing to bust a gut. The other boys were clutching their bellies and snorting with laughter as were a few other kids who had observed what happened. The line moved a bit and the dart fell to the floor, it had just stuck in her stretchy girdle material. Hearing something drop my sister looked down and saw the dart, she also heard the boys and others laughing and Ken was pointing at her.
Now big girl that my sister was, you better not get her riled and she could move. She started after Ken and he seeing her coming rolled down the steps to the second landing. As she tore after him he barely made it to his feet and outside. Everyone was yelling for him to run or for her to lick him good. But he was a fast runner and dashed down the outside stairs to the elementary play ground. My sister was screaming dire threats to him when she could get a hold of him. At that time the first warning bell rang and everyone headed to lockers and first period classes. My sister handed me the hand made dart, made from a hypodermic needle and duct tape and pieces of wood. She said she was going to get Ken at lunch time. Then went into her class and I went into mine.
Bobby A Ken's brother saw me with the dart and wanted me to give it to him. I glared at him and said NO forget it. He tried to grab it so I stuck it down my shirt into my bra., I was careful it did not stab me. Red faced he sat down because Mr. S our history teacher had came in the room.
After that class Bobby told Ken I had the dart and Ken tried to get me to give it too him. I refused and said I will return it to you after school is over for the day. He could do nothing about it so said okay but I better get it then. Or what I said. Umm well something I don't know. I just laughed and got my lunch tray and sat with my cousin Dot and a friend Elly.
A couple of times that day Ken tried to weedle it of of me and tried to figure where I had it hidden. I told him "Where it's safe and you can't get your hands on it unless you want to be kneed where it hurts and I will tell Mr. D the principle you tried to put your hands down my shirt". His face turned red and he muttered something about some girls I did not quite catch.
Finally the end of the day came, everyone was grabbing school work out of lockers and heading to the buses' car's or walking home. I was waiting for Ken outside the school doors he came up expectantly and asked for his dart. During my third period class which was office aide. I had taken the time to dismantle his toy. I threw the duct tape in the trash and broke the needle in 3 pieces and took the pieces of wood and splintered them. I had it all wrapped in a paper towel. Smirking I said, Here you go". I also noted his older sister Janie was getting ready to get on the bus and was watching him.
He unwrapped the paper towel and saw the dart all broken and ruined. He yelled at me and asked why I had spoiled all his fun. I just laughed, and said that will teach you not to mess with me or my sister. He screamed you said you would give it back. I replied, "I did but I didn't promise it would be in one piece
" He said I am going to get you and then he saw his sister walk up and asked me what happened , when I told her she said your going to get it Ken, and I hope dad wallops your butt good. She told me he had done that to her and her sister Susan the night before and got in trouble for it at home. She thought his mom had put it up but figured he must have found it and brought it to school.
She told him she was telling their parents when they got home. The last I knew he was getting on the bus trying to talk her out telling on him and that was the end of the dart and girdle episode.

As they mounted the stairs they were laughing and giving different girls a look over.
Snickering Ken A saw my sister at the end of the line for those getting report cards. She had bent over a bit showing her ample derriere. Then Ken threw a hand fashioned dart he pulled out of his jacket pocket at my sisters rear end. All four boys chortled expecting it to give her a good stab. I started to call a warning but the dart stuck and she gave a yelp and turned around glaring as she reached to take the dart from her bottom.
By that time Ken was literally rolling on the floor laughing to bust a gut. The other boys were clutching their bellies and snorting with laughter as were a few other kids who had observed what happened. My sister saw Ken was pointing at her.and laughing, she screamed "Your dead Ken, I'm going to KILL YOU"!!
Big girl that my sister was, you better not get her riled and she could move fast. She started after Ken and he seeing her coming, he rolled down the steps to the second landing. Everyone was yelling for him to run or for her to lick him good. My sister reached the landing as he got to his feet and grabbed hold of his long blond hair and began pulling it hard. He tried to get away from her and she pushed him down and sat up on. Ken was slight build and wiry but my sister was riled and mad as all get out and out weighed Ken by at least 20 lbs.
She started slamming his head against the floor and bouncing on his belly, He got a hold of her ringlet hair and pulled her hair. She was sitting on him with all her weight and he was screaming to get her off him, she was screaming at him and calling him all sorts of names, Jerk, stupid, Bozo and threatening to murder him. By then everyone was laughing at him and even his brother would not help. The ruckus got loud and Mr. D and Mrs. K and Mr. C all ran from the office or cafeteria. They told my sister to get off Ken. She did not hear them she just kept smacking his head on the floor and pulling his hair and screaming at him.
Then Mr. W arrived on the scene as well. It took the three men teachers to pull my sister off Ken. Once he got up he was crying and saying "keep her away from me she is mean, she pulled half my hair out". My sister had a big hank of hair in her fist and kept trying to lunge at him and flailing her arms around but Mr. W and Mr. C held on to her. Mr. D saw all of us watching and said anyone who knows what happened here and why in my office,. The rest of you go to class, the first bell had already rung.
I went into the office with my sister and Ken and a couple other kids who saw what happened. Including Ken's brother and two girls. Elaine. L and My cousin Dot.
When Mr. D heard what happened he had Mrs. K take my sister to the ladies rest room to exam her wounded rear.
Finding it not too bad a little sore but no real damage they returned to the office. Mr. D took us all into the inner office one at a time to hear the story. When he came out. He had me call Ken's mom because I was Mr. D.'s office aide. My sister was told under the circumstances since she had been provoked and assulted she could go to class.
When Mrs, A got there and was told what happened. Mr. D asked her if she or he should do the honors. Mrs. A said give me that paddle. Ken was taken into the empty cafeteria and give 10 wacks on his rear end by his mom and then he was let to go to class but not before his mom told him he was grounded for a month and would spend it cleaning out the dairy cow stalls and barn. Thus ended the dart and girdle episode and a lesson for any others who had bright ideas of fashioning weapons to injure others with.
