Please don’t mess with my melons on the vine
Or send me a belated Valentine
For Spring has sprung and the bees are in the air
And I just planted a cactus garden in my underwear (actually in a planter box)
The ducks are laying eggs and the geese are honking
The trees are green but the pollen is causing coughing
The March of time is slowly moving out the door
And April readies her buckets of rain and more
The world seems on its normal course of chaos
The haves want more, continuing in their pay-offs
Which only affects my poetry, not in the least
Even when the super computer is named the Beast
Cycles come and go and this one is waning
House cleaning is a trend and so is complaining
I know there can be a future that everyone can enjoy
As money is all a game and the system could re-deploy
Real change requires a revolution of some kind
And some are scared of words and march in time
I reach for peace and pray we learn to get along
As those less fortunate are humans that do belong
So we’re each responsible for how we feel
And can make a difference in something that is real
As the little things can mount up and be a trend
Give a little, be a part of the positive and transcend
