(Wednesday Writing Essentials - WWE 3/21/12- Sea)

This Week’s Challenge:

♫♫♫ By the sea, by the sea….♫♫♫

Barbary Chaapel suggested this new challenge and when she did, I immediately pictured a photo essay. She also suggested keeping the challenge wide open. I totally agreed with her. Of course, that got me to thinking about Star Trek when an alien called Kirk nothing but a bag of water. Then, there was a time when we found a few little baby catfish stranded in a puddle of water, swept down the creek by a flash flood. My imagination took over and thought of a tear drop, rain drop, dew on a petal. There is no limit to writing about the sea or any other body of water.

My challenge is to write anything you want (in any form you desire) about a body of water.

Ideas: I’ll be anxiously waiting to read your ideas.

Suggestions: Sure, please correct my grammar and send me challenges you’d like to see.

Make sure you put this (Wednesday Writing Essentials - WWE - Sea) in your title.

Be sure to tag it with WWE, Sea, Gather Writing Essentials.

Post to Gather Writing Essential.

I ask that you make your submission(s) by next Tuesday afternoon.

A body of water, huh? I suppose I could talk about how my wife always said she was retaining water. Hmm, nope, I'd probably be shot for that. I think I may be able to come up with something dealing with LARGE bodies of water.

Real life got ahead of me and I still want to respond to the cat prompt. What stopped me was other obligations but I am determined to follow up on what I said I would do. So please bear with me. You will still see a cat post from me.
As for this week's prompt, I think I will post a previous poem from a few years back.

I just wrote a long response and lost it. My fault. But I'm too tired to repeat. I still want to answer your prompt but real life prevented me the time I needed. When I get it out, I'll alert you so that you'll know I did what I said I was going to do.
The other part was trying to tell you about an option you are not using when you post your articles. On the edit page you have a chance ( three options) to choose how your post appears.
Right now (on this page) you have the default choice (when you make no choice) to show the most popular articles on Gather. They tend to be the movie star, glam, brainless news articles that most serious gather members and writers reject and ignore. Gather Writing Essential is about writers not what movie star just got busted. So, next time you post an article, click on other options and choose either "most recommended or most discussed" and keep doing that to promote the writers who write for Gather.

I can't really answer...I usually go for most recommended. The lists usually have posts that are on both. Just don't do "most popular"!

Yes! on the draft page just under "Show Commenting Options"
Show other Options...click on either one of the two options following "show most popular posts"

Here's a post I wrote on the topic, Pam. I've noticed that those who are here mostly for conversation usually choose "Most Discussed;" those here for the arts or lit usually choose "Most Recommended."

Pam, you're doing a wonderful job. Your prompts are very interesting. I wanted to write about my departed cat but had no time. The water prompt gives plenty of scope; I'm just hoping for some inspiration.

I am so spread out and trying to do everything at once. Cassie D. talked me into joining Gather. I am hoping to get more involved. I have written some post here and enjoy the different groups.
