Male View:
I know she likes me. I can tell it from the way she holds her head and moves her hands whenever I’m around. I’m just not sure I’m ready for the type of relationship she wants. I’m still young and I’ve still got a lot of living to do.
But she is really cute. Maybe if I just come up behind her and throw my arms around her I’ll find out how she really feels about me.
Female View:
I knew he couldn’t resist me. They never can. Males are so dumb: All of them. As soon as he puts his arms around me, and tries to mate, I’ll turn around and bite his head off.
(The male female conversation of the praying mantis)
The challenge was: Write a story (prose or poetry) about the first meeting between two characters who might turn out to be a love interest in your story. The twist is that I want you to write it twice: once from the boy’s viewpoint and a second time from the girl’s viewpoint.

Thanks for taking the SatWE challenge and, because it is so cool, I need to make this my first feature of the week on Gather Writing Essential.

And: "I did not know that about the praying mantis. The females in many other species are interested in one thing, propagation. God seems to have had mercy on the human race and allowed them to know romance as well.
