Hello, Everyone!
I'm going to make my post short this week. My in-laws are coming from Washington, and book three in my series is due to my editor on Christmas Eve. I'm seriously looking forward to spending time with my husband's parents, and I can't wait to hand off the book. Unfortunately, the house won't scrub itself and my keyboard hasn't yet figured out how to relay my thoughts to the monitor/computer without me taking an active role in the process. :-)
Today's Prompt:
Is not going to be super challenging.
Why not? 'Cause I'm the taskmaster and can decide what sorts of punishments to inflict on you! :-)
(No, the "power" isn't going to my head.)
(Not in the least.)
(Did I ever mention I like telling people what to do?)
(Okay, I'm kidding. Ha ha. :-))
My brother is a wedding photographer, but he loves to stray from portraits and cute couples, occasionally taking pictures of nature and beautiful buildings. (You can see his website here, if you want). One of my favorites, shown below, was taken sometime in September, and my mom, who is absolutely and completely terrified of spiders, posted it as her Facebook profile picture for the entire week before Halloween.

Her name is Chloe. I know it is, 'cause I named her. :-)
When I see this picture, I see an adorable, helpless little thing, looking up at me, begging me to take care of it. Or at least, not squash it. I'm also reminded of my mother and her fear of eight-legged creatures.
The challenge:
In your post, use as few words as possible, and tell us what the above picture says to you. What is the first thing that comes to mind?
I can't help but throw a few rules into the mix:
- Don't use the word "spider"
- You must use at least 10 words
- You can't use more than 75
- You have to use the words "adorable" and "squash," or synonyms (pull out your thesaurus!)
You don't have to say the spider is "adorable" and you'd "hate to squash it" when you use those words, by the way. Get creative! :-)
Remember:
You have until Thursday, December 22, 2011 at midnight to write and post, and it can be in any format.
I will comment on and read your responses a week from today.
* Have your title say FWE or Friday Writing Essential, and have the initials "ACLS" (Adorable, Cuddly Little Spider) in it.
* Make sure to post to the Writing Essential Group.
* Put FWE or Friday Writing Essentials and the initials "ACLS" in your tags. (I won't find your post without these tags.)
Have a great week! And good luck with Christmas shopping. :-)

(I'm evil. But at least I fit in with other evilness peoples here. :-))
I have decorator spiders in my house - real ones, yellow and white.
Where's my "Deal with it" button?
:-)
I swear. From now on warn, and I promise I won't come running. Sure, you warned both times and I came anyway, but now you know why I won't show up next time. Ew! Gross! Out, out, damn Chloe!
I don't have any future plans for "bug" pictures, so no worries.
And yeah! I did warn! And you did come! Why, Lynn? Why? Why did you come?
He he. :-)
LOVE that photo!
And I'm sure my brother would be okay with you using his photo - as long as you give him visible and easy-to-access credit. He's fairly open with that sort of thing.
It's a marvellous picture, that i'm looking there. The yellow and the black color of the little beast give a good marriage to the white soil. it pretty look like a piece of collection i gold and black pearl. It's so adorable to see it walking on that piece of statue, it's like a locomotive forsook somewhere on a road. Sometimes i felt like it is sad,it's like asking some help like the other insect praying mantis who ask the forgiven when you wanna kill it . well i would to get this arachnid in my house , in a crate in glass and look at it when i want. i wouldn't choose to squash far away from that beautiful creature!
