The House approved the GOP's "Cut, Cap, and Balance" plan with a vote of 234 to 190 according to Fox News. www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/07/19/house-approves-cut-cap-and-balance-plan/   If you read the article you will see that they are willing to increase the det ceiling by 2.4 trillion dollars in exchange for a approved balanced budget amendment.Â
I do not trust the government to balance the budget after we allow the increase of the debt ceiling to occur. Cutting spending is the best way with as small of an increase in taxes as we can get away with. I know many people do not want to hear that but increasing taxes is going to happen not matter which way we go so we might as well face it now before they increase our debt another 2.4 trillion dollars.
The article goes on to say that Obama threatens to veto the plan as he wants lawmakers to use the "Gang of Six" plan to develop a "broader agreement". We need to let our representatives know that enouph spending has already occured. We must keep this message on their communication lists so that the pressures they are under in Washington will not cause them to compromise any more of our future.Â
It is time to make hard decisions and stick to the plan of decreasing government spending as we are in danger of having our credit rating demoted by the financial governing agencies over nations.Â
If this happens we will be in danger of the interest rate on the 14 trillion dollar debt being increased. We are bearly paying the interest on that debt now, what will happen if the interest rate increases?  The posibility of our lenders calling the note due is a ever growing threat. The collateral for that debt is our land and we the people as chattel (bondsmen or slaves).Â
I personally think we need to stick to our guns and insist on balancing the budget - not increasing the debt ceiling. What do you think?

I do not know if what you are saying is true or not, but if you can give me reference material I would love to find out about it.
It's a very common word in English.
Eileen has consistently misspelled this word. It's an easy word. Spell check is built into the system, there's no excuse for it.
Ali, I am a very good writer and I do make my point very clear as a good writer should. On the other hand, spelling has never been my strong point and I do have to check myself for that. I am sorry it rubs you the wrong way or is it what I am saying that bugs you.
Thank you for your kind words, Brian. What do you think about the post?
As PJS stated Firefox browser has spell check built in. If you search for firefox browser you will find it, it is a free download.
Take no notice of the spelling police Eileen, spell check is easy to use as PJS and Dan has stated once you download it.
If your Rep. refuses to agree on a very important issue, may I suggest that you tell him you will be watching how he votes and stress the fact that his vote may decide your voting choice in the next election.
If they want to be so extremist and actually think they are going to get their way then they need a lot more like minded members in Congress. Otherwise they are just wasting everybody's time.
Regardless we still need to increase the debt ceiling for past debts because it's a totally different issue from the long term budget for the future - which was already being addressed with the Biden talks, anyway, they just need to get back to that and stop mixing issues all together. It's dangerous blackmail the GOP is playing. If they were muslims it would be called economic terrorism. Who else would say, "My way or we crash the whole economy" and it not be called terrorism?
It might pass the house but the senate is a different story.
The GOP has their own agenda and isnt listening to the people on this. We dont want their bully tactics we want both sides to work together.
They may win the battle on this which is highly doubtful but come 2012 they will lose the war.
They GOP is bending to the TP the one group who is at this moment more unpopular than both the Dems and Repubs put together.
They need to look past party to what is good for the nation.
Do not buy everything you are hearing in the news. If we really needed to cut corners we could do it without hurting the nation. Have you really looked into the things that the government is funding? They can live with older equipment - I have too. We can cut back on the number of government offices across the nation and utilize what we already have to run this country for a time until we can get control of our run away spending. We are in trouble and responding in the same manner that got us into this mess will not work.
