This is a wonderful piece. We are bombarded with commercial temptation. This is a great approach to the prompt.
As for rent-to-own, there is a purpose. Business people stuck in a distant place for a few months. Rent an apartment and furniture. Much easier than buying furniture, and then scrapping it later.

I have to admit, I had to look up "More bunny for your wallet." I thought, "Why do I want rabbits in my wallet? The wallet has been happy for years with nothing in it."

I recently watched a movie in which a fake family was put up in an upscale neighborhood with luxury items including luxury cars with the goal of neighbors wanting to "keep up with the Joneses, thus tempting to buy more and more expensive items and services. It was an interesting commentary.
