If you're like me, then you're the type who can never have too many pairs of shoes. But there are other kinds of people, too (believe it or not) who don't have such an easy time with it. This advice column is for both types.
To find the perfect pair, first chose your type:
Type 1: only cares about price
Type 2: only cares about comfort
Type 3: only cares about quantity
Type 4: cares about all in moderation
Type 5: only buys brand names- doesn't care about anything else
For all types of people, here's some sound advice: make a clear list of what you insist on in a pair of shoes before leaving your house. For example:
grey, round, leather, good sole, flat
also, make sure you leave enough time to find the right one. it's always easier to shop for shoes in-store rather than online, because different companies can vary greatly in sizes. I can be a 6 1/2 in one company, and a 7 1/2 in another.
For Type 1, you need to shop in cheap shoe stores, department store clearance racks, and dollar stores. Leave yourself plenty of extra time if you want a real bargain. Be careful, though- you don't want to have to pay for a foot doctor!
For Type 2, shop in family-owned stores and pediatric foot centers. Find a shoe that fits perfectly, and buy a bunch of them in all different colors, and doubles in the ones you like.
Type 3, stick to cheap stores and all clearance racks. If you have extra cash, find a store you like and by anything that fits.
For Type 4, don't only go to the clearance racks. Try the regular stuff too, you'll see they'll mostly be good for you.
If you fall into Category 5, i don't have any advice for you. Ask your personal shopper.
Whatever type you are, have fun shopping and good luck finding the perfect pair!!!
