The Defeat of Finality
©2011 Robert C Burnham
Whetstone: Just another few more words, inspired by Emily
I often ponder my final breath
Or the final inch I’ll walk
I wonder of my final test
And the final word I’ll talk
And who will share my final hour
To watch me fade away
Will my final moment be at night
Or my last goodbye by day
All these ‘finals’, ‘tis moribund,
Blowin’ across the land and sea,
But then I think – there’ll be no more ‘finals’
Entombed within God’s eternity

But sometimes, the light pours through, too.
You'll be on the plains in Africa, photographing a gazelle. Your last breath will be of fresh air, freedom, and the excitement of getting that glorious shot. And then... home in a flash of light with the gates open before you.
Ok...
That was supposed to be poetic, not creepy. Hope it was! :)
